GraphiQL Desktop v5.2.3

@benjaminv benjaminv released this 24 Feb 07:10

GraphiQL Desktop v5.2.3

Patch release — fixes settings not persisting across restarts.

Fixes

  • Global settings now persist — Theme (system/light/dark) and inner settings visibility are now saved to disk, surviving app restarts
  • Generalized file-backed storage — Shared createFileStorage() helper so any Zustand store can use durable file persistence with one line
  • Migration — Automatically migrates tabs-data.json from v5.2.2 to the new naming convention

Download

  • GraphiQL Desktop-5.2.3-arm64.dmg — macOS Apple Silicon (arm64)

macOS 15+ (Sequoia): Run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/GraphiQL\ Desktop.app

GraphiQL Desktop v5.2.2

@benjaminv benjaminv released this 24 Feb 06:54

GraphiQL Desktop v5.2.2

Major upgrade aligning with GraphiQL core v5.

What's New

  • GraphiQL v5 + Monaco Editor — Upgraded from GraphiQL v3 (CodeMirror) to v5 (Monaco), with full GraphQL language support, autocomplete, and syntax highlighting
  • Global Settings Panel — Theme (system/light/dark) and inner settings visibility are now global, accessible from the tab bar gear icon
  • Drag-and-Drop Tabs — Reorder endpoint tabs by dragging, plus double-click to rename
  • Close Confirmation — Non-empty tabs prompt for confirmation before closing
  • Header Inheritance — New inner query tabs automatically inherit headers from the previous tab
  • Query History Plugin — Built-in query history now enabled

Critical Fix

  • Data Persistence — Fixed a critical issue where all user data (tabs, queries, headers) was lost on app quit. Chromium's localStorage in Electron does not reliably flush to disk. Replaced with file-backed IPC persistence (tabs-data.json in app userData directory) that guarantees data survives across restarts.
