altirraqt v0.1.0

Initial release of the Linux/Qt6 port of Altirra, Avery Lee's accurate emulator of the Atari 800 / 800XL / 130XE / 5200 home computers and game console.

The bundled AltirraOS kernel and Altirra BASIC ROMs are BSD-licensed by Avery Lee and built from source — the emulator works out of the box without needing the original Atari ROMs.

Downloads

  • altirraqt-v0.1.0-x86_64.AppImage — self-contained, runs on any glibc Linux.
  • altirraqt-v0.1.0.flatpak — installs via flatpak --user install --bundle altirraqt-v0.1.0.flatpak, runs as flatpak run com.virtualdub.altirraqt.

What's in the box

  • Full menu surface (File / Edit / View / System / Input / Cheat / Debug / Record / Tools / Window / Help) with no stubs — every menu item is wired end-to-end.
  • QtDisplay backend (QOpenGLWidget) with stretch modes, scanlines, sharp-bilinear, custom GLSL fragment shaders + presets, HUD overlays, pan/zoom, enhanced-text host-font rendering.
  • Per-image / per-system settings persistence, profile save/load, First Time Setup wizard, Advanced Configuration dialog.
  • Recording: WAV, raw audio, AVI (BI_RGB and MJPEG), SAP-R, VGM 1.72.
  • Debugger panes: Console, Registers, Disassembly (with source-line interleave), Memory, Watch, Breakpoints, History, Source Files.
  • Cheat search/freeze/save/load (.atcheats files), PF/PM collision toggles.
  • Compatibility database loader / viewer with auto-apply on mount.
  • 39 device classes registered including HostDevice (H:), PCLink, XEP80 (with alt-output viewer), Browser (B:), and the full disk-drive emulator family (Happy, Speedy, IndusGT, XF551, ATR8000, etc.).
  • CMake install target — binary, .desktop launcher, 256×256 icon, manpage, AppStream metainfo.
  • Validation scripts under tests/ (deterministic framebuffer hash, audio smoke, save-state round-trip across all 39 device classes).

Building from source
