Account Switcher 1.2.0

@berkboz berkboz released this 07 Oct 06:29

Claude Auto-Switch, plus quota for Claude Desktop accounts.

Claude Code (Terminal) Auto-Switch

A menu toggle (and a Settings checkbox), like Codex Auto-Switch. It keeps claude-swap's own cswap auto running in the background. When the active account reaches the threshold (80–95% of its 5-hour or weekly limit, 90% by default), it moves to the account with the most quota left and notifies you. Running terminal sessions keep the old login until restarted.

Claude Desktop

  • Each account in the menu shows how much of its 5-hour and weekly limits it has used.
  • When the active account reaches the threshold and another account has room, it asks once whether to switch. It never quits Claude without asking.

Shared Code sessions

  • The archive list now follows the sessions: archiving and unarchiving carry over to your other accounts. Before, unarchiving on one account could be undone by the next switch.

macOS

  • DMG: open it and drag Account Switcher to Applications.
  • Terminal: curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/berkboz/account-switcher/main/install.sh | zsh

Signed with Developer ID and notarized. macOS 13 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel.

Windows (preview)

Includes the archive-list fix. Claude Auto-Switch and Desktop quota are macOS-only for now.

  • PowerShell: irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/berkboz/account-switcher/main/windows/install.ps1 | iex
  • Or download AccountSwitcher-win-x64.zip / AccountSwitcher-win-arm64.zip and run AccountSwitcher.exe.

Account Switcher 1.1.1

@berkboz berkboz released this 06 Oct 13:36

Update now if you switch Claude Desktop accounts. With Claude Desktop 2.19 and later, 1.1.0 made Claude lose new Code sessions.

Claude 2.19 refuses to save Code sessions into a linked folder, and 1.1.0 linked every account's session folder to a shared one. Claude could still list your older sessions, but every new session and update stayed in memory only and disappeared the next time Claude quit or you switched accounts.

  • Each account now has its own real session folder. Every switch copies each session's newest version into all of them, so sessions are still shared across accounts. A session you delete on one account is removed from the others too.
  • Your next switch migrates the old layout. Until then the menu shows ⚠︎ Repair Code Sessions… to fix it right away. Nothing is deleted: replaced copies go to ~/Library/Application Support/Account Switcher/conflicts.
  • Sessions lost before the update still have their full transcripts in ~/.claude/projects.
  • The menu bar icon's spacing now matches the icons next to it.

macOS

  • DMG: open it and drag Account Switcher to Applications.
  • Terminal: curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/berkboz/account-switcher/main/install.sh | zsh

Signed with Developer ID and notarized. macOS 13 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel.

Windows (preview)

Same fix (1.1.0 used directory junctions, which Claude also refuses).

  • PowerShell: irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/berkboz/account-switcher/main/windows/install.ps1 | iex
  • Or download AccountSwitcher-win-x64.zip / AccountSwitcher-win-arm64.zip and run AccountSwitcher.exe.

Not yet code-signed — see windows/README.md.

Account Switcher 1.1.0

@berkboz berkboz released this 25 Sep 14:35

Update recommended if you use Claude Desktop switching. 1.0.0 could lose data when sharing Code sessions across accounts:

  • A freshly signed-in account's empty scheduled-tasks.json could replace another account's, dropping its scheduled tasks. State files are now merged, not replaced.
  • Shared scratch folders changed their path, so Claude Code split some transcripts and lost sight of project memory. The folders now move with the active account; your next switch migrates the old layout and repairs affected sessions.
  • Nothing is deleted during a merge: set-aside copies go to ~/Library/Application Support/Account Switcher/conflicts.

macOS

  • DMG: open it and drag Account Switcher to Applications.
  • Terminal: curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/berkboz/account-switcher/main/install.sh | zsh

Signed with Developer ID and notarized. macOS 13 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel.

Windows (preview)

  • PowerShell: irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/berkboz/account-switcher/main/windows/install.ps1 | iex
  • Or download AccountSwitcher-win-x64.zip / AccountSwitcher-win-arm64.zip and run AccountSwitcher.exe.

Same features as macOS. Not yet code-signed, and the Claude Desktop switch has not been confirmed on a real Windows install yet — see windows/README.md.
