- A markdown plan's
journal.jsonlis now a hash chain: every recordaepappends carries the digest of the record before it and a digest of its own bytes, written under a lock and flushed before the lock is released.aep plan artifact validatewalks the chain and fails, naming the exact record, when one has been edited, inserted, removed or reordered — which closes the case a document and its journal were edited together to agree on a revision no command produced. A journal written before this exists is reported as not covered and is not a finding of any tier, including under--strict; the first record appended to one seals every line before it as a block, so the older lines become tamper-evident without being rewritten. This detects tampering within a log, and it prevents nothing. It does not detect a log replaced wholesale, and it does not detect one truncated at the tail; a chain is computed from the bytes it protects, so both need the head recorded somewhere the log does not control — gap register D-3, still proposed.
