First v4 prerelease, published under the next dist-tag. latest stays on 3.x.

• ESM only, for React 18 or 19. import works in every bundler and in Node 14 or later; require() works on Node 20.19 or later, or 22.12 or later.
• Tree is a function component with a ref handle (TreeHandle) that centers nodes, expands and collapses them, and reads or sets the transform.
• Stable node ids, controlled or uncontrolled collapse state (collapsed and onCollapsedChange), and onTransformChange for zoom and pan.
• The tree measures its own container, and centerOnClick replaces dimensions.
• Removed: enableLegacyTransitions, transitionDuration, addChildren, dataKey, onUpdate, and the data array form. Animations return in a 4.x minor.
• Runtime dependencies are down to four d3 modules.
