I tried the demo on my android 2.2 phone and it doesn't work right, prompts for the file twice and then says the file is 0.0 kb and too small.

Thanks for the report.
Currently, I don't have the resources (means time) to test on mobile platforms.
However I'm open for user contributions.
Might be that the base API works, but the UI interface not on mobile platforms.

Yes- I can confirm that the upload tool does not work on Android phones, it returns file is too small message, any way to detect Android browser and give a more basic upload?

The basic file upload plugin only requires the Widget part of jQuery UI, thus it should be possible to combine it with jQuery mobile and build a custom mobile file upload plugin.

I've tested with the latest Android SDK platform (4.0.3) and File Uploads seem to work alright.
Albeit the user interface needs some tweaking for a better mobile usability.

Please test against Android 2.3.3 / 2.3.5 too - it does not work.
I have skiped the min size validation for that case and the upload itself works:

Well it seems to be a bug in that platform version.
So the only workaround is an approach similar to what you implemented.

Although it would be better to do feature detection instead of browser sniffing, we can't use it for this edge case so we have to rely on sniffing.

I would recommend setting the file size validation options depending on a boolean variable which is set depending on the Android platform version.

I've also commited a new version which doesn't check for a minimum file size of 1 by default anymore.

On android 2, with the basic setup, the file is uploaded correctly, but no event is raised back...
None of done, fail or always events are fired...
Btw, start is triggered but not stop...
Thanks to the demo it appears that the file is seen as 0 Byte file. Any idea where it could come from?
