Repository navigation
The first stable release of the .context standard: a lightweight Markdown convention for preserving project knowledge across AI sessions, with no required toolchain.
Included
- Required context README and STATUS, visible opening instructions, scoped reading, subject ownership, and material-change maintenance.
- A self-contained context protocol with a small AGENTS.md routing block that preserves project-specific rules.
- Default-enabled, developer-configurable design recommendations and an optional development/release branch workflow.
- Optional ROADMAP, EPIC, FEATURE, and TASK plans; specialized ARCHITECTURE, DEVOPS, CI_CD, and RBAC references when useful.
- Copyable templates, project-neutral minimal and growing examples, and MIT licensing.
- Installation checks that protect existing configuration and project state.
Adoption and migration
Start with the repository README and SPEC.md. New projects need only the required context files and AGENTS.md integration; add other documents when useful.
Existing installations should merge protocol updates while preserving checkbox selections, branch names, custom rules, and current state. Move earlier context-owned AGENTS configuration into the context README without changing its settings. For v0.1 migration, preserve legacy CHANGES history and useful SPECS/SOW documents; prepend future durable milestones.
Final validation passed for 38 Markdown files and 60 local links/anchors. Installation verification covered fresh, empty-directory, and partial/existing installations.
