Release Date: October 25, 2026
Version 2.9.0 brings brainpy.state back into the BrainPy repository. brainpy.state exists to make BrainPy models compatible with the BrainX ecosystem: its models are built on brainstate, carry physical units through brainunit, and train online with braintrace. The state-based models are now BrainPy's own code instead of a re-export of the standalone brainpy_state package, and brainpy no longer depends on brainpy_state.
Breaking Changes
brainpy.statenow contains only the state-based models:Dynamics,Neuron,Synapse, the LIF / HH / Izhikevich / reduced neuron families,Expon/DualExpon/Alpha/AMPA/GABAa/BioNMDA,SynOut/COBA/CUBA/MgBlock,STP/STD, the projections (AlignPostProj,DeltaProj,CurrentProj,align_pre_projection,align_post_projection, gap junctions),LeakyRateReadout, and the input generators.- Every other name previously re-exported from
brainpy_state(for example theNetwork/Builder/SimulatorAPI and its*Projrules, and thedist, spatial, andnetworksubmodules) is no longer available frombrainpy.state.
