v0.19.9 - Optimizations and new notification system
FileApex 0.19.9b
⚠️ Important Notice: Critical Update Alerts
Starting in this update, FileApex can check for urgent notices regarding major bugs, security patches, or breaking changes that require all your devices to update together.
- Privacy first: Nothing about you or your devices is ever sent.
- Non-intrusive: These alerts never trigger pop-up notifications or spam you with marketing. They appear quietly in your Bulletin Board with a direct update link (via GitHub or Google Play, depending on how you installed the app).
- Your choice: This check is enabled by default to keep your devices compatible, but you will see a one-time prompt where you can select Turn off, or you can toggle it anytime in Settings.
🔒 Security & Privacy
- Cleaner logs: Log files no longer record full IP addresses or file paths.
- Expanded encryption: Device details, custom labels, Android trash history, and clipboard checks are now encrypted in local storage.
- Better Mac sharing: Sharing directly from Finder no longer duplicates files into the app folder or leaves traces behind—files are now sent straight from their original location.
- Memory safety: Cryptographic keys and pairing secrets are wiped from active memory immediately after use.
- Cloud privacy: Device names and network addresses stored for push notifications stay encrypted. (Note: Only applies if you opted into Link Google Account.)
🛠️ Bug Fixes
- Android: Long-pressing a file now opens the context menu reliably right where you tapped.
- Android: Fixed an issue where restoring deleted photos from Trash would fail.
- Mac: Fixed a bug where FileApex would disappear from the system Share menu following an app update.
- Cluster: Leaving a cluster now properly wipes associated cloud encryption keys.
⚡ Performance & Polish
- Lighter network traffic: Devices now sync list changes using a compact hash check, reducing background data transfer.
