FileApex 0.20.2
Caution
Important: if you are updating from 0.19.9c or older, update all of your devices.
Friends
- Send files to friends and receive them on every platform, including Android. A send that cannot go through now tells you why, and a send queued while the file screen is open is no longer cancelled when you close it.
- Every friend card shows how that friend is reached: on your network, over the internet, or through a relay, with the round trip time. A friend you cannot reach directly is shown as such.
- Removing a friend while they are online tells their device. Their card says they removed you, and FileApex stops trying to connect to them. Nothing is deleted on their side by itself. If their app was closed, the card says so the next time it starts.
- A friend card shows "checking" at once while a connection is tried, and no longer stays on "checking" forever.
- A new panel lists every file moving to or from a friend, with progress and a Cancel button, on every screen. Choosing files for a friend always shows a Send button.
- Friend join links open the one running app on the desktop instead of starting a second copy. Windows and Linux installers register the link for this.
- Two people joining with the same invite at the same moment can no longer both get in.
Security and privacy
- A device that the cluster removes now clears the cluster's data: Bulletin Board messages, checklists, pending transfers and the old backup file. It keeps its settings and its friends. Before, only its list of devices was cleared and old messages stayed visible.
- FileApex never sends a request meant for a paired device as plain HTTP. If the secure connection is not ready yet, the request waits and retries. This fixes a case on the Mac where browsing a device failed right after it rejoined the cluster.
- Memory is trimmed when the app goes to the background, using the current Android signal.
Fixed
- Android: receiving a friend's file no longer fails on some phones.
- Mac: a connection kept for later is no longer reused for a different kind of request, which caused the failed browse above.
- Linux: the build refuses to package when the source has local changes.
