Speedready 1.0.7
Speedready 1.0.6
Read in any of 10 languages: pick the language you want translations in, and any book in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian or Swedish gets its dictionary, downloaded once and kept offline. Book languages are recognized automatically.
Speed reading up to 1,500 words per minute.
Better dictionaries for every language pair: English and Swedish books get real translations, and words with several meanings show their main one. All 90 pairs pass the new quality check (tools/score_packs.py).
The app now asks for internet access, used only to download a language pair's dictionary; nothing about you or your books is sent.
Dictionary data: Wiktionary under CC BY-SA 4.0; frequency data from FrequencyWords under MIT. See DATA-LICENSES.md.
Speedready 1.0.5
German nouns are colored by gender: blue for der, red for die, green for das.
Books read cleaner: page numbers, running headers and footnote markers are gone, sentences
split by a page break are joined again, and new books open at the first chapter.
Chapters come from the book's own table of contents.
Speedready 1.0.4
Release 1.0.4 removes the non-commercial MUSE dictionary data. Beginner mode now uses Wiktionary translations and English-pivot glosses only. The bundled German-to-Portuguese dictionary was rebuilt without MUSE.
Dictionary data is licensed under its upstream terms. The reader code remains MIT-licensed. See DATA-LICENSES.md for attribution and licence details.
Offline gloss packs
Offline dictionaries for Speedready beginner mode, one pack per language pair. Built from English and language-specific Wiktionary editions (via kaikki.org) and FrequencyWords.
Wiktionary-derived dictionary data is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. FrequencyWords is MIT-licensed. No non-commercial datasets are included. Packs are downloaded by the app on first use.

Speedready 1.0.3
Your own books. Any EPUB on your device joins the shelf next to the starter story, and everything still works offline.
German nouns stop glossing as verbs: the exact spelling now wins over a lowercased guess, so "Haus" resolves as a house and not as "to live in squalor". The same rule already governed the desktop scorer.
Beginner mode says when it has no dictionary for a language instead of pretending, and an EPUB with no readable text reports that instead of failing silently.
