Automatic community installation

• Moggcord starts its local community service when the desktop client opens. Existing installations receive the service through the normal Moggcord updater.
• Clicking Download on moggcord.cc uses the browser's local-app permission and installs into the detected Moggcord channel: Discord Stable, Canary, PTB or Development.
• Detection checks the current Discord host and excludes unmodified Discord and other loaders. It does not fall back to an older patched app after a Discord update. Multiple matching installations require a deliberate channel choice.
• The independent local service stays available while Discord restarts and reports completed installation or a concrete error to the existing download notification.
• The compiler is prepared only when a new code plugin needs building. Its package must match the running Moggcord version and the published checksum. Existing community plugin source is preserved.
• The service is included in the verified desktop files and small update archive. Missing or damaged service files prevent a successful update report.

Fully restart Discord after updating. On the website, allow local-app access when the browser asks. The plugin download page keeps its existing Download workflow.

The main release contains the Windows EXE, universal macOS DMG and Linux x64 AppImage/DEB installers. Technical update files, compiler package and checksums are stored separately. macOS/Linux remain preview platforms; the macOS app is not Apple notarized.

Animated settings branding

• The Moggcord Settings sidebar heading uses a blue/violet gradient with a subtle glow. It scrolls continuously from left to right at a steady speed, completing a seamless cycle every two seconds.
• Branding is part of the core Settings integration, so no optional plugin needs to be enabled.
• Reduced-motion preferences keep the gradient static. Forced-color mode uses readable system text.
• The legacy SettingsGlint entry is retained for settings compatibility, hidden from the optional plugin list, and no longer scans the document or runs a polling timer.
• Sidebar navigation, searchable panel titles, stealth behavior and the four default-enabled plugins are preserved.

Fully restart Discord after updating to load the new renderer code. Clients older than 1.18.44 need the latest installer's Repair action once for the separated update-file layout.

The main release now contains only these four installer packages. Update bundles, metadata, checksums and verification reports are in a separate technical release.

One-time updater migration

Users on 1.18.43 or older should download the current installer and choose Repair Moggcord once. Older clients only look for update ZIPs in the main release. Version 1.18.44 also reads the version-matched technical release, so future automatic updates can use the smaller desktop-only archive without cluttering the installer list.

macOS and Linux remain preview platforms. The macOS app is ad hoc signed and not Apple notarized. Linux x64 supports the official Discord DEB/TAR installations; Flatpak and Snap remain unsupported by this installer.

Updater recovery

• Update downloads now show actual transferred bytes, a percentage and a progress bar.
• Downloads can be cancelled and retried without restarting Discord.
• A download that receives no data for 30 seconds stops with an explanation. Release checks and archive extraction also have time limits.
• Update files stream to a temporary file instead of keeping the complete download in memory. Incomplete downloads are removed and are never installed.
• Future updates use a smaller, verified moggcord-update.zip containing only the desktop code. The complete installer bundle remains available for installation and repair.
• Concurrent update requests share one download. Reopening the updater shows the current download progress.

If an older version is already stuck on “Installing…”, fully close Discord and use the latest installer’s Repair action once to receive this fix. The old updater cannot change its running code while its download is stuck.

All three installers are built and verified on their target operating systems before publication. Checksums and verification reports are in the technical files.

Installers for Windows, macOS and Linux

• Keep the Windows installer and add native macOS and Linux installer apps with the same Install, Repair and Uninstall screens.
• macOS: a universal DMG for Intel and Apple Silicon.
• Linux: x64 AppImage and DEB packages for the official Discord desktop installation.
• Detect Stable, PTB and Canary, allow a custom Discord path, and preserve saved settings during repair and uninstall.
• Use per-user macOS and Linux storage paths and extract updates without requiring PowerShell.
• Extend the optional community connection setup to macOS and Linux, with per-user login startup and installation links.

The new macOS and Linux installers are initial preview releases. CI checks the bundled files and performs real ASAR install, repair and restoration tests on both operating systems. A live Discord account, voice calls and every community plugin have not been manually verified on both systems. Windows retains the existing installer flow and regression checks.

macOS packages use ad hoc signing and are not notarized with an Apple Developer identity. macOS may ask the user to approve opening the downloaded app in Privacy & Security. The installer does not remove quarantine flags or disable Gatekeeper.

Linux supports the official Discord DEB and tar.gz installations. Flatpak and Snap are not supported by this installer. AppImage can require FUSE 2; use the DEB on Debian or Ubuntu if needed. System installations request permission through polkit.
