✨ Highlights

Today: your daily brief, one keystroke away. Press ⌘T in Cai (or set your own shortcut), for a ranked list of to-dos across Slack, email, GitHub and your other tools. Claude Code builds it with the cai-today skill, reading only, and Cai shows it. Each item comes with a prompt to hand back to your agent, and the list and what you've checked off stay on your Mac.

Actions wait their turn. Start an action while another is running and Cai queues it instead of refusing it. A results list keeps what just finished, so you can copy or reopen it.

Cai in your menu bar. Keep your Mac awake, run a focus timer and search your clipboard history from the Cai icon, without opening a window.

Run a pinned action in one move. Hold ⌥, press C, then 1: your first pinned action runs (⌥0 opens clipboard history). Do it fast and Cai runs the action the moment it opens; one that sends its result somewhere else just shows a toast.

🚀 New

  • Today. A short list of the work items that need you, ranked P0 to P3, with one line on why each matters and a prompt to paste into your agent. Press ⌘T in the panel, or choose Today in the menu bar icon's right-click menu.
    • Setup: Set Up Today adds the cai-today skill to Claude Code, asks which of your connected tools to read, and suggests people and Slack channels to rank first. Today needs Claude Code installed and signed in.
    • Keys: ↵ copies the prompt and closes Cai, ⌘C copies and keeps it open, ⌘O opens the source, ⌘D marks done, ⌘⌫ dismisses, ⌘S snoozes until tomorrow at 09:00, ⌘Z undoes, ⌘R refreshes. → opens an item's details.
    • Refresh: once a day (the first time you open Today) or only when you press ⌘R. The first build reads the last 1, 3, 7 or 14 days; later refreshes read only what changed. A done item comes back only if its source has news.
    • Settings → Today: your priorities file (people, channels, topics), the tools Today reads, the skill, and an optional shortcut that opens Cai straight on Today. Details in the Today docs.
  • Action queue. Run an action while another is working and it waits in line ("Queued" toast, "Running · 1 queued" pill), one at a time. Open the pill to see what runs and what waits, each with the start of its input. When everything is done, a results list shows the latest three, newest first: Return copies, → opens. A queued action that would replace your selection copies its answer instead (⌘V to paste), since you've likely moved on from that selection (#72, #73).
  • Clipboard in the menu bar. Right-click the Cai icon to search your clips, with Pinned and Recent sections and the icon of the app each clip came from. Return copies the top match.
  • Keep Awake. Turn it on in Settings → Menu Bar, then click the Cai icon to keep your Mac awake for the duration you used last (30 minutes the first time); right-click for 15 minutes to 5 hours, or Indefinitely. The icon turns to an outline and fills back in as time runs out. Options: let the display sleep, and stop when the battery drops below a level you choose.
  • Focus timer. A minimal Pomodoro in the menu bar: 25 minutes of focus, 5-minute breaks and a 30-minute break after every 4th session, all adjustable in Settings → Menu Bar. The countdown sits next to the Cai icon; click it for quick controls (restart, pause, skip) and four dots that show where you are in the cycle. A short chime and a notification with Snooze 5 min tell you when to look away, and Stop Timer in the right-click menu ends it.
  • Agents can see your focus timer. A connected agent can read the timer and Keep Awake through a new read-only tool, so it can suggest a break at the right moment. It can't change either.
  • Run a pinned action without leaving the keyboard. Press ⌥C, keep ⌥ held, and press a number: ⌥1 runs your first pinned action, ⌥2 the second, and ⌥0 opens clipboard history. It works like ⌘1–9 in the panel, with one hand, even when you press it faster than the panel appears, and follows your hotkey if you changed it (⌃Space gives ⌃1–9). (thanks @tilmann for the idea, #70)
  • Agents can revise a proposal you haven't decided on. Ask your agent to change an action it just proposed and the waiting card updates in place, instead of a second card for the same action.

💎 Improved

  • A clearer Cai logo. The ⌥ now matches the C's weight, in the menu bar (now drawn at a size that matches the system icons), the app icon and everywhere else. The right-click menu gains Cai Settings… (⌘,) and drops Open Cai, since ⌥C is the way in.
  • Clearer dark mode. The selected action is easier to spot, the window and toasts keep a visible edge on a dark desktop, and the accent colour is brighter so it stays readable. Increase Contrast in macOS Accessibility settings is now respected too (#91).
  • Clipboard history keeps what you use on top. Picking a clip moves it to the top of the list, and ⌘0 shows the icon of the app each clip came from.
  • Results use the whole window. Make the window taller and long results fill it instead of staying in a short pane. (thanks @akl773, #68)
  • Tidier panel footers. The obvious ↑↓ and ↵ hints are gone, leaving room for the shortcuts that matter.

🐛 Fixed

  • Today is actually there now. 1.7.0 shipped with Today hidden: every way in (⌘T, the menu item, Settings → Today) was accidentally limited to development builds. This release turns it on. Sorry about that.
  • Chained actions keep their result. When an action ran a chain after its own step (a shell command followed by a prompt, for example), the chain's final output was lost instead of appearing under the Result pill. It now shows up there.
  • Closing an answer stops the built-in model. Pressing Esc while Ask AI was still writing left the model generating in the background, so the next action could fail with "busy". It now stops right away.

🙏 Thanks

  • @tilmann for the ⌥-number quick-run idea (#70)
  • @akl773 for pinning down the truncated-results cap (#68)
