The state is "Not favorable" while the battery is empty. Is that right? Usually yes. No charge slot is left that is cheaper than buying directly after charging and discharging loss. The house then buys directly, which is cheaper. The Plan line explains what is happening and when it will plan again (after midnight or after 14:00).
Why does it not charge in the cheapest hour of the night? Possible reasons:
- After loss it is not cheaper than the hours in which you use that energy.
- The sun covers usage in time.
- The battery lasts until the next cheap moment.
The path check only plans charge slots that lie before an expensive gap and are cheaper after loss.
"Still to charge from the grid" shows many kWh, but few slots are planned. That figure is the energy balance until the bridge until moment. Only what pays off is planned; the rest the house buys directly, or it is planned after midnight once the new day's prices count.
The Plan Timeline stays on "Loading…".
- After reloading the template entities, the planner only calculates at the next minute. Press Recalculate or wait a moment.
- Check that
sensor.zendure_forecast_charthas thetimelineattribute (Developer tools → States). - Check that apexcharts-card is installed and up to date.
The usage line in the timeline is flat. The usage profile is still being learned. Each hour of the day needs 3 workday or 2 weekend measurements; until then it uses your average daily usage.
The grid figures under Collected data differ from the energy dashboard. Check the source after "Grid". If it says P1 meter (kWh counters), the figures match the energy dashboard, except in the first week after an update, while the old values are still leaving the 7-day window. If it says Calculated from power, your P1 meter was not detected. In that case, report which energy counters your P1 has.
The efficiency is lower or higher than I expect. The planner uses Gielz's total RTE: all kWh out divided by all kWh in. That is energy-weighted and more reliable than the 24-hour efficiency averages, which come out too low. Energy currently in the battery counts as "in, not yet out"; over a longer period that evens out.
Do I need to restart Home Assistant after an update? Check Upgrading in the changelog. Often reloading the Template entities is enough. New helpers, integration sensors or the recorder setting need a restart.
