Highlights
English build: the untranslated screens in English
The English patch left many screens untranslated and cut many lines short. They're English now:
- Menus: the Game Mode menu (all 8 titles and their descriptions), Online / Compare Records, Game Settings' values, the Project D homepage (toolbar, icons, Updates / Info), Select Modifications' Performance / Exterior tabs, the Garage / Card Collection titles.
- Race setup: Select Transmission (Manual / Automatic), Select Track (course names, maps, rivals), and Select Route for every course - Clockwise / Anti-clockwise, Uphill / Downhill, Inbound / Outbound and Reverse - plus Dry / Wet and Day / Night.
- Races: the start banner (every course's name, route, time and weather), the record panel's TOTAL BEST / CAR BEST, and the finish's Replay / Save Replay / Next.
- After the race: the Driving Data panel, the map legends, the coach's advice written out in full (the patch had cut every line, e.g. "You're hitting the wal"), and Retry / Select Course / Quit.
- Story mode: Select Opponent ("BATTLE 1 [ Clockwise - Day - Dry ]", Level), "Press START to skip", the Rematch? menu after a battle (Rematch / Travel / Quit / Accept), and story lines too long for the screen now fit.
- Text the patch cut short (~135 lines, e.g. "Create N") shown in full, and the save list's "No driver file" spelled right (the patch's font was missing letters).
- Prefer the patch's own look? F1 -> Quick -> "Prefer the original menus?" takes you to the switches: all off at once, or screen by screen (F1 -> Graphics -> Textures -> English patch fixes).
One-click room races
- Start a race for the whole room: in an online room (F1 -> Online -> Rooms), the owner picks course, direction, time and weather and presses Start the race for everyone. Every player's game drives itself there - out of a race, out of the menus or from the title - and the start waits for everyone to arrive. (Known issue: once in testing one player still started early. If it happens to you, F1 -> Home -> "Send my log" right after.)
- Everyone sees each other's real cars in room races (their car, paint and look), not copies of your own.
- Your own gearbox: each player picks AT / MT / the one they used last (Rooms -> My gearbox).
- The race music plays (the course's song, or your playlist).
- Room races need a driver file loaded; join from the title screen and you're taken in once you've picked one.
New
- Garage in the F1 menu (Car -> Garage): change any of your cars' parts, tuning course, tune-up step and paint, kept in sync with the game's own Garage and Tuning screens. Part lists show only parts that car really has, named (wheels by make and size, e.g. "Volk TE37 16in bronze"). Picking a car here drives it.
- 3D car preview with the fitted parts, paint, wheels and vinyl - turn it by dragging, with the angle slider, or Pause; size slider; pointing at a part lights it up. Also on F1 -> Car -> Paint & skin (was "My car"), so the colour you pick shows on the car as you pick it.
- Wheels from any car: fit any of the game's 225 wheels to your car, listed by make and model.
- Sky editor, loading screen editor and world colour editor: build sky effects from layers (or write your own sky shader), make your own loading screens, and colour themes for the world.
- BPM sync: songs' beats are detected, so effects can follow the music.
- Skip the title screen (F1 -> Quick).
- Leaderboard website: https://cassnadra.github.io/initialdpsponpc/ - every course's ranking, driver profiles, search and filters, ghost replays on the course map. In game: F1 -> Online -> Leaderboard -> "Open on the website".
- Sharper car pictures on your profile: 24 angles at 384x216, framed closer.
- Cinematic replay camera: in the free camera's timeline (F8 in a replay) click a keyframe to set how the camera gets there (smooth, straight, ease, or a cut), what it looks at (its own direction, a point, or a car) and what it rides with (tracking shots); "Following" switches which car the follow camera tracks.
- Send my log: F1 -> Home -> Problems? -> "Send my log" sends your log, settings and PC parts with a note (user names and network addresses blanked; a copy stays in the
reportsfolder). "Record performance details" helps find slowdowns.
Fixes
- Ghosts: a checkpoint banner no longer rides along with your ghosts after you pass under it, and ghosts off screen aren't drawn (with several ghosts on Akina the frame rate could halve).
- Leaderboard: clockwise Usui runs were filed on the anti-clockwise board (both directions start on the same spot). They're on "Usui (reverse)" now, older versions' runs included.
- Profile car: your profile could show the wrong car (a car's snapshot could be saved under another car). If yours still does, delete that car's file in the
carsnapfolder - it's taken again in your next race. - Missing bumpers / wheels: a car set to a part it has no model for raced without it; such parts go back to stock (driver file fixed too) and can't be fitted.
- Sound stopping in long sessions: the sound device and music player recover by themselves.
- Music in folders with non-English names is found, and song names are tidier.
- Skins with paint effects (rainbow / pulse / chameleon) no longer flicker.
- Underglow on the menu showroom car.
- The loading screen shows the car you drive.
