What's new

• E-ink theme: a warm light-gray page with near-black text, one step softer than Paper. Links take the text color with an underline.
• Literata built in: an open-source book typeface (OFL) in the spirit of e-reader fonts. Chinese text falls back to Songti.
• E-ink preset: one click sets Literata, weight +1, one column, narrow text width and the E-ink theme.
• Tap to turn like an e-reader: the left 20% goes back, everything else goes forward. A click that closes a footnote, clears a selection or closes the panel does not turn the page. Double-click still selects a word: a click in the middle waits 250 ms before turning.
• Fix: footnote popups no longer show text larger than the page. They now use 0.9× the body text size with normal line spacing.

What's new

• Faster long chapters: EPUB chapters over 128KB are now laid out in pieces, so a book opens on the first piece instead of waiting for the whole chapter. A 1.2MB chapter opens in about 0.3s instead of 3s; a 260KB chapter in 0.28s instead of 0.62s.
• Reading positions, contents, search, footnotes and Go to work as before. Saved positions from earlier versions still open where you left off.
• Known trade-off: inside a very long chapter, a new page starts every ~64KB, so the page before it may be half empty.

Leaf now aims to be the open-source answer to a Kindle: the reading layer, without the store, the account or the library.

What's new

• Reading progress like a Kindle: click the bottom-right corner to cycle percent, location, time left in chapter and time left in book. Estimates learn from your own page turns.
• Floating contents panel: ⌘T or click the chapter name. It floats over the page instead of reflowing it, and closes once you pick an entry.
• Find in book moved into the panel: results listed by chapter, matches highlighted on the page. ⌘G / ⇧⌘G step through.
• Typography: five weight levels, justified or left alignment, paragraph and letter spacing, built-in presets (Compact, Standard, Large, Low Vision) and custom presets.
• Go to (⌘L) a percent or location number; hover the status row for a scrubber.
• Double-click an image to view it full size.
• Eight interface languages: English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어, Français, Deutsch, Español. Follows the system, or pick one in Settings.

  Chinese, Japanese and Korean books skip automatic hyphenation, so long chapters lay out faster.

• 章节开头不再多出一整栏空白（书本 CSS 的分页规则在双栏排版下被当成换栏）
  No more blank column at the start of chapters (page-break rules were treated as column breaks).
• 字号不是 100% 时，右侧不再露出半截下一栏
  Text no longer spills a partial column on the right when font size isn't 100%.
• 目录侧栏打开时不再遮住正文；工具栏 Aa 按钮在中文系统下显示正常
  The contents sidebar no longer covers the text; the Aa toolbar button displays correctly on Chinese systems.

变化 Change

• 字号调节改为缩放书页的基准字号。极少数把字号写死为像素的书，调字号将不起作用。
  Font size now scales the book's base font size. Books that hard-code pixel font sizes won't respond to it.
