Beaver Local v0.25.4

Maintenance release of Beaver Local. No functional changes from v0.25.3; it exercises the auto-update path, so installed copies of v0.25.3 should offer this update under Tools → Plugins → gear → Check for Updates.

Install

1. Download beaver-local.xpi below.
2. In Zotero 7–10, open Tools → Plugins, click the gear icon, choose Install Plugin From File… and select the file.
3. Open Beaver (top-right icon or Ctrl+J / ⌘J), then Preferences → API Keys → Local Mode to add your provider. Restart Zotero.

Beaver Local v0.25.3

First release of Beaver Local: Beaver for Zotero running on your own LLM provider, with no account and no Beaver servers. Fork of jlegewie/beaver-zotero v0.25.3.

Install

1. Download beaver-local.xpi below.

3. Open Beaver (top-right icon or Ctrl+J / ⌘J), then Preferences → API Keys → Local Mode to add your provider (OpenAI-compatible or Anthropic format). Restart Zotero.

Beaver Local replaces an installed official Beaver; the two cannot run side by side.

What's in it

• Local mode: chat with your own API key; no login, no traffic to Beaver servers.
• Library tools: metadata and full-text search, items, collections, tags, notes, annotations, PDF/EPUB reading.
• Reader actions (Explain / Ask on a selection or annotation).
• Scholarly search via OpenAlex and Semantic Scholar; provider-hosted web search.
• Token usage that counts prompt caching correctly for Anthropic-format providers.

Status

Tested on Zotero 10.0.3 with an Anthropic-format provider: opening Beaver, chatting about a paper, and reader Explain. Web search, scholarly search, library exclusions and the separate window have not been tested in Zotero yet. Please open an issue with Error Console output if something breaks.
