Cristalis 1.11.2

@Claudio5702 Claudio5702 released this 02 Nov 15:30

Cristalis 1.11.2: Crystal Defenders Recomp, an unofficial native PC port of Crystal Defenders
(Xbox 360, Xbox Live Arcade) by static recompilation. A fix for a lag of the sound and the controls,
quicker menus, digit keys, better touch screens, the achievements page in the game, and updates
easier to find.

New in 1.11.2:

  • No more lag: after a few minutes, the sound and the controls could fall almost a second behind
(the game handed the launcher 2 % too much sound, which piled up). Fixed: the sound now stays about
a tenth of a second behind, however long you play.
  • Every menu follows the pointer at once: the pause menu, its help and questions, a power
crystal's menu, the menus before a stage, Mastery's demos and a replay's own pause menu, as the row
    of units in 1.11.1.
  • Digit keys: in the row of units, keys 1 to 9 choose that unit straight away (top row or keypad).
  • Touch screens: a finger works better (each touch is now seen as a new one), and touching the
game's own "Back" on the screen works as the B button, for a tablet with no buttons.
  • The achievements page: "Achievements" in the game's pause menu now opens the launcher's own
achievements page over the game (it was a separate Windows box, out of sight in full screen or on a
    Steam Deck).
  • A more telling log: crystal_defenders.log now gives the versions, the graphics card, the
screens' refresh rates and, once a minute in play, the pace, the sound waiting and the screen's sync
(DarkLauncher 3.01). If something feels wrong, that log is the most useful thing to send.
  • "Update" in sight: when a newer version is out, the launcher's home page shows "Update" right
under "Play". This helps from the next version on.

A 1.07 or later offers this version by itself: start your game, and choose "Update" in Settings,
Internet.

You need your own copy of the game: the CRYSTAL DEFENDERS (or 58410989) folder from your
console. These programs contain no game assets (pictures, sounds, music, texts): they are read
from your copy, which is checked on installation. Crystal Defenders belongs to Square Enix; this
project is not affiliated with or endorsed by Square Enix.

Downloads

  • Windows 10/11, 64-bit: Cristalis-Setup.exe. Put your CRYSTAL DEFENDERS folder next to it
and run it. Already installed? Run it again: it installs over your copy and keeps your things.
  • Linux x86-64 (experimental): Cristalis-linux-x86_64.tar.gz. Unpack it, copy your folder into
    it, run crystal_defenders.sh.

Download them only from this page. Everything new in 1.11 (the mouse everywhere, touch screens, fast
forward kept on, filling the screen, ten times lighter):

@Claudio5702 Claudio5702 released this 02 Nov 11:29

Cristalis 1.11.1: Crystal Defenders Recomp, an unofficial native PC port of Crystal Defenders
(Xbox 360, Xbox Live Arcade) by static recompilation. A small update with two mouse fixes.

Fixed in 1.11.1:

  • A unit's menu with the mouse: the game shows a unit's menu (and a power crystal's, in W2) low on
the screen when the unit stands in the map's top half. The mouse expected it high, so its rows had to
be pointed at far above them. The rows now follow the menu wherever it is.
  • The row of units follows the pointer at once: moving two or three units away took about half a
second; it now takes a few hundredths, with the game's own hand and sound.

A 1.07 or later offers this version by itself: start your game, and choose "Update" in Settings,
Internet.

You need your own copy of the game: the CRYSTAL DEFENDERS (or 58410989) folder from your

Cristalis 1.11

@Claudio5702 Claudio5702 released this 01 Nov 23:52

Cristalis 1.11: Crystal Defenders Recomp, an unofficial native PC port of Crystal Defenders
(Xbox 360, Xbox Live Arcade) by static recompilation. No longer a beta on Windows: the game has been
played to the end. The Linux build stays experimental.

New in 1.11:

  • Played with the mouse, everywhere: on the map the cursor goes straight to the square under the
pointer and a click deploys a unit (the game's own checks kept: not on the road). The rows of units
of W1, W2 and W3, W2's summons, a unit's and a power crystal's menus, the pause menu and all its
entries, questions and help, the menus before a stage, the best scores and Mastery follow the
pointer. Right button: back. Middle button: fast forward. The wheel scrolls and changes values.
  • Touch screens: a finger works as the mouse, on a Steam Deck or a Windows tablet.
  • Fast forward kept on: the game's own fast forward (RB, held) stays on from one press to the next:
F, the middle button, a controller button chosen in the Controls, or the pause menu.
  • Fill the screen: on a Steam Deck (16:10), an ultrawide (21:9) or a 4:3 screen, the game's
backgrounds widen instead of black bands; everything else keeps its place. On by default, in
    Settings, Picture.
  • About ten times lighter: the game used a whole processor core waiting for the graphics card; it
now sleeps instead. 60 pictures a second even on a single core; less heat and a longer battery on a
    laptop or a Steam Deck.
  • The buttons shown follow your device: keys, mouse, or a PlayStation controller's symbols.
  • New look: the launcher's own painted backdrop, starting picture and icons, a small knight as the
program's icon, and the achievements' own pictures from your copy of the game.
  • Fixes: a crash at 4K with the screen filled; a possible stop when the pointer moved while a stage
loaded; deployments refused on squares between the grid's points.
  • DarkLauncher 2.98 (from 2.41): among others the console mode found by itself under Steam's Big
Picture and Game Mode, FreeSync and G-Sync on Windows, the xBR filter, and Chinese and Korean in its
    menus.

A 1.07 or later offers this version by itself: start your game, and choose "Update" in Settings,
Internet.

You need your own copy of the game: the CRYSTAL DEFENDERS (or 58410989) folder from your
console. These programs contain no game assets (pictures, sounds, music, texts): they are read

it, run crystal_defenders.sh. Played on one real PC so far (Bazzite, Steam's Game Mode); not yet
    tried on a Steam Deck.

Download them only from this page.

report any problem. Everything else:

Cristalis 1.10 (beta)

Choose a tag to compare

@Claudio5702 Claudio5702 released this 21 Oct 10:07

Cristalis 1.10 (beta): Crystal Defenders Recomp, an unofficial native PC port of Crystal Defenders
(Xbox 360, Xbox Live Arcade) by static recompilation.

New in 1.10:

  • Lighter at high resolutions: on Windows the picture now goes to DarkLauncher on the graphics card,
without a copy through the processor. At 4K the game takes about 17 % less processor time, as little
    as at 720p.
  • Linux on a real PC: a whole game was played under Bazzite (a Linux close to SteamOS), in Steam's
Game Mode with the new Steam Controller, with no problem seen. DarkLauncher 2.41 brings Linux and
Game Mode fixes (Steam's virtual keyboard no longer opens at start).
  • Installer: installs into a "Cristalis" folder, with shortcuts named "Cristalis – Crystal
Defenders". An installed copy stays where it is, and updates itself as before.

A 1.07, 1.08 or 1.09 offers this version by itself: start your game, and choose "Update" in Settings,
Internet.

Since 1.07: your saves are in the game's saves folder, and the launcher tells you when a newer
version is out and installs it when you choose "Update" (it checks the file's size and SHA-256
against GitHub's first; your saves, screenshots, settings and game data are kept). The look is one
request to GitHub at each start; turn it off in Settings, Internet. Copies before 1.07 cannot update
themselves: install this one by hand once.

Played on one real PC so far (Bazzite, Steam's Game Mode); not yet tried on a Steam Deck.

Download them only from this page.

What it has

  • The game on DarkLauncher 2.41 (open source, MIT): settings screen, pause menu, seven languages,
keyboard, Xbox and PlayStation 4/5 controllers with vibration, achievements, screenshots,
    accessibility options, updates.
  • The game's six languages; internal resolution up to 3840 × 2160; HDR (Windows).
  • A crash report that says where the game was ("W1, Stage 2, Wave 5").

It is a beta: played by few people so far; few controllers and Linux PCs, and no Steam Deck,
have tried it yet. Everything else: README,
CHANGELOG.

Cristalis 1.09 (beta): Crystal Defenders Recomp, an unofficial native PC port of Crystal Defenders
(Xbox 360, Xbox Live Arcade) by static recompilation.

New in 1.09: DarkLauncher 2.15. The music behind the menus no longer cuts out at every move,
and the preview keeps its pace. A 1.07 or 1.08 offers this version by itself: start your game, and
choose "Update" in Settings, Internet.

Since 1.07: your saves are in the game's saves folder, and the launcher tells you when a newer

Cristalis 1.07 (beta): Crystal Defenders Recomp, an unofficial native PC port of Crystal Defenders

New in 1.07:

  • Your saves are in the saves folder of the game, where you would look for them (before:
userdata\content). The game moves the old ones there by itself at its first start.
  • Updates: from this version on, the launcher tells you at start when a newer version is out,

  • The game on DarkLauncher 2.05 (open source, MIT): settings screen, pause menu, seven languages,
keyboard, Xbox and PlayStation 4/5 controllers with vibration, achievements, screenshots,
    accessibility options.
  • The game's six languages; internal resolution up to 3840 × 2160; HDR (Windows).
  • A crash report that says where the game was ("W1, Stage 2, Wave 5").

It is a beta: played by few people so far; real controllers, real Linux PCs and the Steam Deck
have not been tried yet. Everything else: README,
CHANGELOG.
