'|' character in Search field results in runtime error

Repo steps:

1. visit https://aasfmarin.org/meetings
2. enter a valid search term in the search field (e.g. men)
3. enter pipe character '|' in search field

As soon as you enter the pipe character, you'll get a runtime error.

I had hoped the the pipe character could be used as an 'or'

Looking at code I do see where 'or' is supported via 'OR' ... thanks for that!!

Just need to bullet-proof against dumb developers trying to use the '|' character instead of 'OR'
