NixSCP v1.2.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Nov 15:03

What's new in 1.2.1

  • NixSCP for macOS (new): one universal app for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, macOS 12 Monterey or newer: NixSCP-1.2.1-macos-universal.dmg. Everything from 1.2.0 is included (Agent Access, MCP, tunnels, cloud sync, teams, local encryption), and it is built from the same code as the Linux and Windows versions.
    • Not signed yet. This first macOS release is not yet signed with an Apple Developer ID or notarized; we are working on it. It is safe to use, and the source code and the public build that produced it are open for review. On first start, right-click NixSCP in Applications › Open › Open (or System Settings › Privacy & Security › Open Anyway, or xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/NixSCP.app).
    • Settings live in ~/Library/Application Support/NixSCP. Open in Terminal uses Terminal.app. For Agent Access and scripting, link the tools: sudo ln -sf /Applications/NixSCP.app/Contents/MacOS/NixSCP /usr/local/bin/nixscp (and nixscp-cli).
    • Not available on macOS yet: registering as the handler for sftp:// links, and creating a desktop icon.
  • All platforms: refreshing (Ctrl+R) a local folder that was deleted now moves to the nearest existing parent folder instead of showing an error.

NixSCP v1.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Nov 11:53

What's new in 1.2.0

  • Agent Access (free): let AI agents (Claude Code, Codex…) and scripts use your saved SSH sites without ever seeing their passwords or keys. The running NixSCP makes the connection; agents use nixscp --list, --connect <site> --cmd "…", --get, --put and --tunnel. Per site: allow, or ask each time (once, 1 hour, 24 hours, always); download-only, command allow/deny rules, session recordings and an audit log. Enable it with Agent Access… in the site settings. Docs: https://nixscp.com/docs/agent-access
  • MCP server: nixscp --mcp gives MCP clients such as Claude Code the same access as tools. https://nixscp.com/docs/mcp
  • Tunnels: saved SSH port forwards per site (e.g. the server's MySQL or PostgreSQL on 127.0.0.1:3307), started and stopped from the new Tunnels menu; the status bar shows the running ones. https://nixscp.com/docs/tunnels
  • Teams (NixSCP Pro, free during the beta): share site folders with colleagues, end-to-end encrypted, with owner/admin/member roles and one-time invite codes. https://nixscp.com/docs/teams
  • Local encryption (NixSCP Pro): your NixSCP password now also encrypts the whole local configuration (sites, stored passwords, settings), with your recovery key as a fallback. Exports can be an encrypted backup or a plain WinSCP-compatible file. https://nixscp.com/docs/encryption
  • New-release notice: NixSCP checks GitHub once a day and tells you when a new version is out; it never downloads or installs anything (Preferences › Updates).
  • Help menu links to nixscp.com, GitHub issues and releases.
  • Security: SCP downloads on Windows refuse \ in file names sent by the server (hardening related to WinSCP issue 2477).
  • NixSCP now tracks the official WinSCP repository: every WinSCP fix gets a review issue here.

NixSCP v1.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Nov 16:15

What's new in 1.1.0

  • Windows version — the same NixSCP for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11: installer (NixSCP-1.1.0-setup.exe, can add nixscp-cli to PATH) or portable zip. Settings live in %APPDATA%\NixSCP; sftp:// links can be registered in Preferences.
  • AppImage — NixSCP-1.1.0-x86_64.AppImage runs on other distributions (Ubuntu 24.04+, Linux Mint, Arch, openSUSE…; glibc 2.39+).
  • Cloud sync (NixSCP Pro beta, free during the beta) — end-to-end encrypted sync of sites, stored passwords, preferences, workspaces, bookmarks and open sessions between your computers. Encryption happens on your computer with your own sync password (Argon2id + AES-256-GCM); the server only stores ciphertext. Cloud Sync › Sign In… to start. See https://nixscp.com/security.
  • Configuration backup can include the sync key; files stay importable into WinSCP.
  • Server file names with characters Windows cannot store are encoded as WinSCP does (%3A…), and local custom commands quote server-chosen names safely.
