v0.18.2 - Easier docking with layout previews

Choose a tag to compare

@comet-ctrl comet-ctrl released this 04 Oct 07:27

Drag panels into place with a full preview of their destination, directly inside MyUCLA Class Planner.

Changes

  • Remove bottom docking. Panels can dock left, right or back into the main workspace, or remain floating.
  • Show one shaded rectangle covering the final destination while dragging, like the filled docking preview in Obsidian. The panel lands in the space shown.
  • Grab blank space in a panel header, its dotted grip, or its navigation tab. Wider snap regions make placement easier; the actual panel still follows your pointer.
  • Keep native buttons, search fields and Help popovers interactive. Escape cancels a drag. Closing and reopening panels preserves existing controls and selections.
  • Correct Details docking when My classes is hidden or floating and when space is limited on a small screen.
  • Keep focused Details actions reachable immediately after scrolling, including on small screens.

Install or update

Download better-myucla-v0.18.2.zip and extract it. In chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode and load the extracted dist folder. For an existing unpacked installation, replace its build files, click Reload, then refresh Class Planner. Enable Tidy up MyUCLA's own layout in the extension popup.

Verification

Typecheck, the production build and 389 unit tests passed. Fictional browser fixtures compare the filled preview with the final panel bounds, exercise header dragging and cancellation, and preserve native controls, selections, redraw handling, printing and Original layout.

This is a prerelease. The actual installed page still needs verification after Chrome reload; no live enrollment action was performed. Layout choices remain in page memory. No new permissions, API or persistent storage were added. v0.18.1 remains available for rollback.

v0.18.1 — Flexible panels and live dragging

Choose a tag to compare

@comet-ctrl comet-ctrl released this 04 Oct 05:51

Arrange Class Planner around the way you work. Drag the weekly schedule, class details and other modules into floating panels or dock them beside one another, without leaving the original MyUCLA page.

What's new since v0.17.11

  • Drag a panel's dotted grip or navigation tab. The actual panel follows your pointer, and highlighted targets show where it can dock. Escape cancels the move.
  • Resize floating panels from their corner and docked panels from their dividers. Multiple course details can stay open together.
  • Close a panel with its header ×. Reopen modules and Schedule from navigation, or reopen the details group from a course's Details button. Hiding preserves existing controls and selections.
  • Collapse the navigation rail. Double-click a grip to float or return a panel; right-click for placement options and Reset layout. Keyboard alternatives are available.
  • Keep native MyUCLA controls, statuses, navigation, form association and original-layout restoration. Layout choices stay in page memory through same-plan redraws and reset on reload or plan/term change.

Install or update

Download better-myucla-v0.18.1.zip below and extract it. In chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode and load the extracted dist folder as an unpacked extension. If updating an existing unpacked installation, replace its build files, click Reload, then refresh Class Planner. Enable Tidy up MyUCLA's own layout in the extension popup to use the redesigned workspace.

Verification

Typecheck, production build and all 375 unit tests passed. Production browser fixtures cover live dragging, closing/reopening, preserved native controls and selections, native action panels, responsive layouts, redraws, printing and restoration. The matching fictional preview was checked at four sizes.

This is a prerelease. Verification on the user's actual installed page is pending their Chrome reload; no live enrollment action was performed. Floating panels remain inside Class Planner, and no additional permissions, server or persistent layout storage were added. v0.17.11 remains available as a rollback download.

v0.17.11 — Multiple course details

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@comet-ctrl comet-ctrl released this 04 Oct 04:08

Keep multiple My classes details open together, with independent Close controls and local scrolling. Preserve open courses and native focus through same-plan partial redraws so a native action's next panel is not hidden by closing Details.

Plan/quarter changes clear obsolete details. Native controls, statuses, forms and enrollment handlers remain unchanged. No automatic enrollment, added requests, permissions or storage.

Validation: typecheck, 324 unit tests, production build, workspace checks at nine widths, native action responses across four widths and four redraw modes, Plan Actions, matching preview, touch scrolling, print and restoration. The old build reproduces the hidden-response regression in fictional fixtures. Live enrollment completion has not been tested.

Update the existing unpacked extension with the dist folder in the ZIP, reload Better MyUCLA in chrome://extensions, then refresh Class Planner. v0.17.10 remains available for rollback.

v0.17.10 — Larger schedule and status colors

Choose a tag to compare

@comet-ctrl comet-ctrl released this 04 Oct 03:41

Larger schedule and status colors

  • Use Widen beside Weekly schedule to give the calendar more room, then Restore width to return to the previous size.
  • Drag the divider or use arrow keys for precise sizing. The old 640px limit is replaced by available screen width while keeping a usable browsing area. Double-click resets; narrow screens retain full-width Schedule.
  • Each lecture/discussion status keeps UCLA's wording and counts: Open/Enrolled green, Waitlist amber, Closed red, unknown neutral. Native detailed statuses and controls remain untouched.

Validation: typecheck, 319 unit tests, production build, nine-width workspace browser suite, four-width matching preview and visual color/width checks passed. Includes native control identity, meeting geometry, keyboard/pointer resizing, redraw retention, printing, restoration and no new storage/requests. Live verification after reload confirmed Widen from 640 to 1399px, exact restoration, all status-tone CSS colors and no horizontal clipping. The earlier native Optimizer response limitation remains unresolved.

v0.17.9 — Readable course details

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@comet-ctrl comet-ctrl released this 04 Oct 03:26

Readable course lists and details

  • More room for the course list; Details and Class actions stay on one row.
  • A bounded filter and consistent selected-course background.
  • One primary heading row with rooms and instructors grouped under their sections. Native metadata help remains available.
  • Visible boundaries around native section-edit controls.
  • Fixed course-list edge scrolling while dragging. The regression now checks actual movement in both directions.

Validation: typecheck, 315 unit tests, production build, workspace at 9 widths, course controls at 5 widths, 8 empty-plan variants, details at 6 widths plus native help/long metadata, and matching preview at 4 widths passed. Fixture data is fictional. After reload, live structural checks confirmed the wider list, aligned actions, metadata visibility, native edit targets and no horizontal clipping. The previously recorded native Optimizer response limitation remains unresolved.

Existing unpacked installs: replace the dist folder with this build, click Reload in chrome://extensions, then refresh Class Planner.

v0.17.8 — Clearer controls

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@comet-ctrl comet-ctrl released this 04 Oct 02:53

Clearer controls

  • Expand/collapse controls now have visible borders, light backgrounds and directional chevrons.
  • Class actions, Close, Help and secondary disclosures have consistent visible boundaries and keyboard focus.
  • Narrow search headings wrap cleanly. Long course titles keep clearance around Close.

This is a CSS-only interface update; native handlers, status wording and form behavior are unchanged.

Validation: typecheck, 315 unit tests, production build, production-browser suites and responsive visual checks passed. On the refreshed installed Class Planner, My classes and Find classes expanded/collapsed correctly, with no horizontal clipping. The previously documented native Optimizer response limitation remains unresolved.

v0.17.7 — Planner control audit

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@comet-ctrl comet-ctrl released this 04 Oct 01:49

Fix Final exam week opening inside the narrow course list and audit the planner's controls.

  • Finals opens in a bounded panel with Close, Escape, outside-click dismissal and focus return. More stays above clipping containers.
  • Native Help remains inside its module. Study/Personal expansion and returning from natively collapsed Calendar/Plan/Search preserve the original native controls.
  • Correct hidden recovery actions, hidden search labels and native section-row visibility.
  • Preserve original Plan Actions, statuses, rooms, instructors, form ownership, save confirmation, undo, notes and Original layout.

Validation: typecheck, 315 unit tests, production build, core harness and matching preview pass. Functional browser checks cover Finals, all seven Plan Actions, native module controls, search submission, course selection, notes, pointer/keyboard reorder, Undo, recovery, Save/Stop, foreign-plan rejection and error Reload. All plan-changing tests use fictional intercepted pages; no live plan/enrollment was changed.

Live verification of this installed update is pending extension reload. During the preceding live audit, UCLA's original Optimizer heading also stayed collapsed in Original layout; this is explicitly unresolved rather than counted as a pass. See the control audit for coverage limits.

Update your existing unpacked extension with the ZIP's dist folder, then Reload the extension in chrome://extensions and refresh Class Planner. v0.16.0 remains the redesign rollback point; the prior installed v0.17.6 build was also backed up locally.

The attached ZIP is the exact Windows production build verified and installed for this audit. SHA-256:

v0.17.6 — Plan Actions and visible course details

Choose a tag to compare

@comet-ctrl comet-ctrl released this 04 Oct 01:04

Makes Plan Actions accessible and keeps important section information visible.

  • Rooms and instructors appear directly with each section in Find classes and My classes Details. The extra disclosure button is removed.
  • Search classes has a solid blue enabled state, a readable neutral disabled state and visible keyboard focus. Native required-field and submission behavior remain unchanged.
  • Native Load, About and Save/Rename panels open over the workspace without shrinking the schedule. Plan Actions remains reachable on short screens and survives native menu redraws. Native visibility, controls and form ownership are preserved.

Plan-changing actions are exercised only against fictional native fixtures. The extension never automatically saves, renames, creates, deletes or loads a plan. No added permissions, storage or network API.

For an existing unpacked installation, replace its build with the ZIP's dist contents, reload Better MyUCLA in chrome://extensions and refresh Class Planner. v0.16.0 remains available as the redesign rollback release.

v0.17.5 — Optimizer and class details fixes

Choose a tag to compare

@comet-ctrl comet-ctrl released this 03 Oct 23:48

Fixes the blank Optimizer pane and reorganizes course details into readable section rows.

Selecting Optimizer now opens UCLA's original disclosure through its existing native button. The extension validates that control, forwards only explicit navigation, prevents duplicate clicks while loading and keeps the original heading available. It never runs the optimizer or changes a plan automatically.

Wide Details panes use aligned native column headings and compact section rows. Narrow panes use two labeled bands. Rooms and instructors remain behind their disclosure. Native gray cell blocks, inconsistent alignment and oversized status-icon boxes are removed from validated Details and search results; original status content and controls remain intact.

Checks cover responsive layout, keyboard focus, disclosures, native hidden states, form/control identity, printing, restoration and native Optimizer loading without additional requests from the extension.

To update an existing unpacked installation, extract the ZIP over the existing extension folder, reload Better MyUCLA in chrome://extensions and refresh Class Planner. Load the dist folder. v0.16.0 remains available as the redesign rollback release.
