TeXquisite 0.133.0 - keep first-line previews fast
TeXquisite 0.133 keeps the preamble checkpoint warm when body text shares the physical begin-document line. The guarded shortcut is enabled by default; genuine preamble changes and unsupported states still rebuild normally.
In the packaged synthetic ten-page comparison, median edit-to-completed-canvas updates fell from 464-480 ms to 98-102 ms; the candidate maximum was 126 ms. Both variants still used full-document updates. These are hidden cloud canvas measurements, not physical display paint or a guarantee for private documents or every edit.
Validation: 107 unit/native checks, 65 integration reports, exact raster/canonical pixel checks, automatic recovery, navigation, and 128 ten-page frames. TeX Live 2024/2025/2026 passed 474 native pixel/text/geometry comparisons and packaged editing/restart checks. MiKTeX native-only checks passed on Windows 2022/2025; the exact release executable also passed on Windows 2022. A file audit isolated the independently rebuilt Windows 2022 hash difference to five generated logo assets.
Windows x64 portable. Install TeX Live separately; no VS Code or Node.js is needed to run the app. MiKTeX still has native compilation only, without persistent local lecture preview. Mac/Linux previews remain the separate 0.123 downloads. Windows builds are unsigned public test releases.
The executable, guide, license, numeric results, provenance, and SHA256 list are permanent release assets rather than expiring Actions artifacts. The tag identifies the exact binary source; subsequent test-workflow fixes are recorded separately in provenance.
TeXquisite 0.132.0 - keep paragraph joins warm
TeXquisite 0.132 keeps nearby paragraph joins warm in Lecture mode with Continuous scroll, including Backspace joins. It avoids a repeatable full-build/preparation pause on the next word.
In the controlled packaged Windows comparison, worst next-word updates fell from 560–644 ms to 50–61 ms. First joins took 126–169 ms. These are synthetic completed-canvas timings; other full-build fallbacks still approach two seconds.
The executable passed 106 unit/native checks, 63 integration reports, exact viewer/full-build pixel comparisons, navigation, error recovery, and rapid typing during preparation. Source and packaged cohorts are recorded separately in the attached report.
Download the portable Windows executable and FIRST-RUN.md. SHA256SUMS identifies all seven permanent release assets; PROVENANCE identifies the exact binary source and validation runs. No VS Code, Node.js, or GitHub login is needed to run the executable. A supported TeX installation is still required; the fast lecture pipeline requires TeX Live. This is an unsigned preview.
Mac/Linux preview downloads remain available under v0.123.0; this release validates the Windows package.
TeXquisite 0.131.0 - reuse unchanged page canvases
Windows 0.131.0 keeps unchanged page canvases attached after exact worker-cache validation, avoiding repeated allocation and painting. Fonts, page size, resolution, saved source, compiler and Build/Export are unchanged.
Controlled cloud trials used this same packaged binary with reuse disabled/enabled. Median text edits improved from 122.5 to 99.5 ms, inline math from 128 to 94 ms, and sustained typing from 253.5 to 111 ms. Sustained p95 improved from 371 to 137 ms. The isolated text maximum was 247 versus 265 ms, so this is not an across-the-board worst-case guarantee. These are hidden completed-canvas measurements on a synthetic ten-page lecture, not physical-display or private-document timings.
Validation passed: 100 selected unit/native checks, 29 integration reports, 28 raster/cache pixel cases, 24 actual viewer/full-raster comparisons with zero differences, and seven supplemental ownership/race scenarios. Automatic error recovery, error-counter clearing and navigation on reused pages passed.
See CACHED-CANVAS-SPEED.md for methods and limitations, CACHED-CANVAS-RESULTS.json for raw aggregate data, PROVENANCE-0.131.0.json for source and checksums, and FIRST-RUN.md for installation. The earlier cross-page whole-paragraph prototype remains withdrawn.
Windows x64 portable prerelease; bring an installed TeX Live or MiKTeX. Mac/Linux preview downloads remain on their existing release pages. Corresponding source: https://github.com/complexzeta/TeXquisite/tree/v0.131.0 ; the bundled compiler's corresponding source, patch/build scripts and licenses are included in that tagged tree. This is an unsigned preview build.
TeXquisite 0.128.0 - reuse unchanged full-resolution page images
Windows preview with exact reuse of unchanged full-resolution page images. Text size, page size, magnification and saved source are preserved. The worker cache is bounded to eight entries and 32 MiB of counted image/identity data; large or unsupported PDFs keep normal rendering.
Two matched repetitions on the same private ten-page lecture measured median text edits 225 -> 174 ms, equations 210 -> 168 ms, and sustained typing 372 -> 256 ms. All actual viewer pixel comparisons matched full rendering. The 300 ms target is not universal: fast typing p95 was 369 ms, and the slowest edit was 489 ms. Hidden completed-canvas timings are not a physical-screen or 99.9th-percentile guarantee. See the attached PAGE-PREVIEW-SPEED.md and aggregate results for methods and limits.
Exact binary source: ce404e48abff267c48ca13c06febf0c5dfa44638. Verification run passed 95 selected checks, 19 source/package integration reports and 28 pixel/cache cases. TeX Live or MiKTeX must be installed separately; read FIRST-RUN.md. These release downloads do not automatically expire. Existing Mac/Linux preview downloads remain on v0.123.0.
Measurement-control correction (3 November 2026): the historical edit-to-completed-canvas timings remain as recorded, but the asynchronous readiness wait did not reliably wait for preparation to finish before the first edit. Corrected tests explicitly await each readiness query. New fully prepared typing comparisons should not be compared directly with this report’s first-edit outliers. The binary, source tag and seven release assets are unchanged.
TeXquisite 0.127.0 - faster full-resolution page previews
Windows x64 preview with faster full-resolution page updates.
Transfer only the bounded page-ink image, then compose it at its exact position on a full-size white page. Resolution, page dimensions and magnification are preserved. Unsupported pages retain the existing raster path. Reuse compression of exact PDF streams in local affected-page previews, with a bounded 8 MiB cache; strict baseline proofs and full builds/exports retain their existing path.
Two fresh matched local comparisons on a private ten-page lecture at 250% scaling (280 input events): text-edit median 310 -> 217 ms; equation-edit median 300 -> 203 ms; typing-burst median 623 -> 441 ms. Burst worst 1178 -> 580 ms. A first edit in one candidate run took 916 ms, so the 300 ms target is not met for every edit. All samples, including that outlier, remain in the sanitized permanent results. Timings stop at a completed hidden-window canvas, not physical display.
Verification: 90 selected unit/native checks, 19 source/package integration reports, 28 exact-pixel cases. Four additional local page checks compared both generated and attached viewer pixels with full native rendering at the actual display scale, with zero mismatches. No private document/profile/raw logs were uploaded. See PAGE-PREVIEW-SPEED.md and PAGE-PREVIEW-RESULTS.json for method and limits.
Install TeX Live separately; close the previous version normally before running the portable executable. Existing documents/settings stay in the local profile. This remains an unsigned prerelease. Mac/Linux downloads remain at separately tested 0.123.0.
Release downloads, checksums, provenance and sanitized measurement summaries do not expire.
TeXquisite 0.126.0 — theorem math and low-memory recovery
Windows x64 preview focused on long preview stalls during continued typing.
Fixes a one-second cancellation loop that repeatedly discarded resident compiler startup and its warm preamble. Also preserves warm workers during obsolete error repairs, prevents rapid edit/reversal RPCs from dropping corrections, and anchors first-body paragraph selection at the verified native checkpoint.
A controlled 49,152-edit comparison covered six scenarios and sustained temporary errors. Per-scenario p99.9 improved from 1.5938.28 s to 0.971.39 s; worst observed candidate delay was 1.49 s. There were no censored observations. The 300 ms target is not met: structural/boundary fallbacks and ordinary typing queued behind them still need work. Read TAIL-LATENCY.md and TAIL-LATENCY-RESULTS.json for exact results, workload limitations and the low-memory policy simulation.
Source and packaged app checks passed (90 selected unit/native checks, 17 integration/package reports), plus new queue/startup-deadline guards. Saving, automatic recovery, strict export, navigation, status bar and zoom/layout were checked. No private source or profile was uploaded.
Install TeX Live separately. Close the previous version normally before running this portable executable. Documents and settings remain in the existing local profile. This unsigned prerelease is not a claim of production readiness. Mac/Linux remain on their separately tested 0.123.0 release.
Downloads and their checksum/provenance/timing summaries are permanent release assets.
DPI coverage correction: the historical high-dpr tail job requested a scale through an unused environment variable. Its timing row is an additional theorem run, not verified 2.5-DPI coverage. The numerical measurements are unchanged. See the corrected coverage notes. Future tests explicitly pass and assert the actual scale factor.
TeXquisite 0.125.0 — theorem math and low-memory recovery
TeXquisite 0.125.0 — theorem math and low-memory recovery
Deleting a closing dollar sign inside a theorem now recognizes LaTeX's theorem-end math error and can temporarily close the math in the preview copy. If both dollars are removed while subscripts and familiar relation symbols remain, a bounded repair can display those symbols in text mode. The saved source is unchanged; provisional repairs cannot qualify for strict PDF export.
Under memory pressure, automatic whole-document verification waits while the proved local compiler stays available. Failed local edits still report a concrete status-bar error immediately. A rejected provisional frame retains the last good image and checkpoint for the next correction. Healthy paragraph/page checks account for established legacy TikZ preamble compatibility without masking real errors elsewhere.
All 17 source and packaged Windows integration reports passed. Simulating 256 MiB available RAM without consuming real memory, both source and packaged tests deleted each dollar separately, kept typing and corrected the source automatically. Continued typing reached the canvas in 63–112 ms; the first error frame took 288–300 ms. These are hidden-window cloud measurements, not guarantees for arbitrary documents or physical-screen timings. Existing correction checks measured 32–143 ms.
Download TeXquisite-0.125.0-Windows.exe and follow FIRST-RUN.md. This is an unsigned Windows x64 preview requiring a suitable TeX installation. Existing Mac/Linux previews remain in v0.123.0. Release assets have no automatic Actions-artifact expiry.

TeXquisite 0.124.0 — faster Windows error recovery
TeXquisite 0.124.0 — faster recovery from temporary TeX errors
Temporary body errors keep the prepared paragraph compiler available while whole-document verification runs separately. Newer local edits cancel obsolete automatic verification; explicit Build and Export requests remain intact. Proved corrections also clear stale build-failure messages.
The cloud-tested Windows executable passed all 15 integration reports, including automatic continuation while errors remain elsewhere, navigation, exact source saving and strict export. Six synthetic corrections reached the canvas in 19–65 ms. These are hidden-window cloud measurements, not guarantees for arbitrary documents. One unlocated brace error still needed about a second to confirm the error counter was clear, while its preview updated in 24 ms.
Download TeXquisite-0.124.0-Windows.exe and follow FIRST-RUN.md. This is an unsigned Windows x64 preview requiring a suitable TeX installation. Existing Mac/Linux previews remain available in release v0.123.0. Release assets have no automatic Actions-artifact expiry.

TeXquisite 0.123.0 — Mac and Linux preview
Mac and Linux preview packages are now available as permanent GitHub release assets, without the seven-day Actions artifact expiry.
| Platform | Architecture | Formats |
|---|---|---|
| macOS | Apple Silicon, Intel | DMG, ZIP |
| Linux | x64/AMD64, ARM64 | Debian package |
Mac first launch: these builds are ad-hoc signed, not notarized. Gatekeeper blocks the initial launch until a tester deliberately approves the trusted app through Apple's per-app Open Anyway flow. Developer ID signing/notarization remain pending. Do not disable Gatekeeper globally.
Linux: tested on Ubuntu 24.04. Debian packages retain Chromium sandboxing. AppImage is intentionally excluded because its earlier launcher disabled the sandbox.
Install TeX Live/MacTeX separately, including latexmk and your document packages. Read the attached FIRST-RUN-MAC-LINUX.md. No VS Code, Node.js or GitHub account is needed to run a downloaded app. The existing Windows 0.122.0 release is unchanged.
Validated on native macOS 15 and Ubuntu 24.04 runners, both x64 and ARM64: automatic TeX discovery, matching-format preparation, prose/math/TikZ preview, automatic saving/building, Save shortcut, menus, source navigation, verified PDF export, erroneous-export protection, automatic error recovery and restart/cache reuse. Six fresh downloaded installation paths passed functional tests. The Mac graphical approval flow was not automated; human usability, other OS versions, inverse navigation and performance parity are not established.
These exact packages come from successful build 41395773737, source 58cd4b517a4e5fceff6d2205426365501a315c4b, and passed fresh-download tests 41396774165. SHA256SUMS-0.123.0.txt and PROVENANCE-0.123.0.json identify the published bytes. Release assets are retained unless explicitly removed; they are separate from temporary CI reports.
TeXquisite 0.122.0 — Windows preview
Download and start
Download TeXquisite-0.122.0-Windows.exe below and run it. This is a portable Windows x64 preview, with no installer, VS Code, Node.js, repository checkout or GitHub account required. The first launch can take a while to unpack.
You need TeX Live, including latexmk, installed separately. On first launch, confirm the detected installation in Build Settings or choose its folder, run Check installation, then Apply. If necessary, use Prepare matching fast preview once and apply the settings. See FIRST-RUN.md below for the complete setup and troubleshooting guide.
For interactive teaching, choose Build → Working mode → Lecture and Continuous scroll. Documents stay local; there is no service to connect or account to create. To update, close your previous version normally and run this executable. Your local session and settings are kept separately.
What changed since 0.100
- Faster and more resilient local lecture previews, including early-document edits and automatic continuation after recoverable TeX errors.
- A permanent compact error status bar with a live count; edited error locations immediately become amber checking, while untouched errors stay counted. Compiler confirmation updates the count before preview redraw.
- Clickable, undoable command corrections, including adjacent-letter typos such as
\frca→\frac; stale suggestions cannot overwrite newer typing. - Quieter blank-space scrolling, source/preview navigation fixes, and compact controls with persistent layout and fit-width settings.
Verification and limits
This is the same verified executable used for the 0.122 trial. Cloud diagnostics checks passed 81 focused tests, one native retained test, all 14 focused diagnostics integration/package records and 19 matching runtime assets. Both source and packaged UI tests covered automatic recovery, exact source saving, strict export, navigation, layout and command corrections. The immediately preceding 0.121 full campaign passed all 70 integration/package records. The 0.122 pass did not repeat the full performance campaign or broad TeX Live matrix.
The executable is unsigned and Windows may show a publisher warning. Check SHA256SUMS-0.122.0.txt to identify the published bytes. PROVENANCE-0.122.0.json records the verified runtime and release commits. Changes after runtime validation are limited to documentation and the published-package test reference; no local rebuild was made.
Windows with TeX Live is the supported initial setup. MiKTeX native compilation remains experimental, and macOS/Linux application packages are not provided. Fast preview compatibility depends on the TeX installation; native fallback, first loads, changed preambles and complex diagrams can be slower. No universal per-keystroke latency is promised. This release is for testing, not a finished replacement for every TeX workflow.
Application code is AGPL-3.0-only. The tag's Source code archives below include the application, original compiler source archive, modifications, build scripts and third-party license notices. Please report problems through the repository's Issues page; never include private documents unless you intend to share them.
