A maintenance release: one runtime dependency fewer, nothing else changes for users.

Removed

  • The polars dependency (#55, #56). Nothing in lanet_vi imports it. Removing it has two effects:
    • Every pip install lanet-vi gets smaller: it no longer pulls a large compiled wheel it never used.
    • It removes a crash risk on older CPUs. The default polars wheels need x86-64-v2 CPU features, so on baseline x86-64 hosts (for example a KVM guest with the "Common KVM processor" model) import polars kills the process with Illegal instruction and no traceback.

Compatibility

The Python API, the CLI and the pictures are unchanged from 5.3.0. If your own code imported polars only because lanet-vi installed it, add polars to your dependencies.

Also on main since 5.3.0, not user-visible: setup-uv 10.2.0 in CI (#53) and ruff 0.16.8 / plotly 7.1.0 in the dev extras (#54).
