ChatGPT Subscription MCP 0.1.0

Use Claude Desktop to ask OpenAI questions, continue conversations, and generate or edit images through ChatGPT subscription sign-in. No OpenAI API key is required. Claude starts the local bridge and bundled Codex backend automatically.

Downloads

  • win32-x64: Windows on Intel/AMD 64-bit
  • darwin-arm64: macOS on Apple Silicon
  • linux-x64: Linux on Intel/AMD 64-bit, for compatible local MCP clients

Choose the bundle matching your OS and CPU. Other supported architectures can install from source. Each bundle has a SHA-256 checksum.

In Claude Desktop, open Settings → Desktop app → Extensions → Advanced settings → Install Extension and select the .mcpb. Then ask Claude to call chatgpt_status and, if needed, chatgpt_login. The older Claude layout puts Extensions directly in Settings.

Included

  • Seven focused MCP tools for login/status, text, image generation/editing, job polling, cancellation and image retrieval.
  • Persistent conversation mappings and local image outputs.
  • Pinned Codex 0.164.0 runtime; no ChatGPT app or terminal must remain open.
  • Source installer that preserves existing Claude settings and creates backups.
  • MIT-licensed bridge source, documentation, dependency lockfile, CI and third-party notices.

Validation

All nine CI jobs passed: tests on Node 22 and 24 across Windows, macOS and Linux, plus three platform bundle builds and isolated startup checks. The 13 automated tests require no credentials. Dependency audit reports no known vulnerabilities at release time.

Live Windows testing with ChatGPT Plus verified text, follow-up context, real image generation, inline image retrieval, reference-image editing, and packaged-runtime text requests.

Limits

This initial release is experimental and unofficial. It uses Codex conversations, not existing ChatGPT web chats. Subscription eligibility, workspace controls and ordinary usage limits apply. The app-server interface can change upstream. This is a local stdio extension, not a remote claude.ai/mobile connector. See README and SECURITY.md for installation, privacy, storage and troubleshooting details.
