Spaced Linux 10.26.8 is the eighth patch release in the October 2026 line.

Changes

  • Persist Caja’s Show Hidden Files choice across window closure and process restart (#379).
  • Make Brisk Edit Menus open Alacarte, and add menu-button icon change and restore actions (#379).
  • Consume high-resolution wheel events while the configured Compiz zoom modifiers are held, preventing simultaneous Qt application scrolling (#371).
  • Ship Spaced Welcome 0.1.21, fixing Flatpak remote creation during suggested-app installation, and expose the sysvinit D-Bus machine ID at /etc/machine-id for AccountsService clients (#381).
  • Remove the managed Brave default-browser policy that triggered an upstream settings crash.

The one-off greeter report (#374) and the unreproduced Brave minimized-window/data-loss report (#380) remain open and are not claimed fixed by this release.

The final image passed QEMU and VirtualBox live boots in BIOS and UEFI modes. The QEMU BIOS test also exercised all 13 desktop themes; both VirtualBox modes reached the MATE desktop and displayed Calamares.
