Starship Alpha 2 — Hot Staging

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Oct 16:03

Hot Staging is the second public alpha of Starship, the native Rust and KDE Kirigami flight journal.

Changes since Alpha 1 — Ignition

  • Polished Windows controls, panel spacing, icons, and layouts at 100% and 150% scaling.
  • Improved narrow-window mission facts, comparison selectors, and dropdown popups.
  • Fixed startup with Debian's older Kirigami drawer API.
  • Refined flight analysis notes to use neutral wording.

Downloads

Windows 10/11 x64: extract Starship-Journal-windows-x64.zip and run starship-journal.exe. Qt, KDE Breeze, Kirigami, and JPEG XL dependencies are included.

Linux x86_64: choose the AppImage, portable tar.gz, DEB, or RPM. The bundled runtime requires glibc 2.41 or newer (Debian 13+, Ubuntu 25.04+, Fedora 42+). For the AppImage, make it executable and launch it; use --appimage-extract-and-run if FUSE is unavailable. For the tarball, extract and run AppRun.

macOS 15.0.0+ Apple Silicon: open the DMG and drag Starship.app to Applications, or extract the ZIP. The development app is ad-hoc signed, not Apple-notarized; macOS may require allowing it in Privacy & Security. The compatibility JSON records the requirements of this build.

All three platform builds, backend tests, and desktop/narrow packaged-app checks passed before publication. Screenshots and diagnostics are available in the build run.

This is an early alpha. Launch windows may change; countdowns start only when a precise launch time is available. SHA256SUMS.txt contains checksums for every package.

Released from verified commit 931ec8c.

@cube-one-ber cube-one-ber released this 01 Oct 12:50

The first public alpha of Starship, a native Rust and KDE Kirigami flight journal.

Ignition brings together 14 flight debriefs, vehicle comparisons, chronological milestones, launch windows and countdowns, and JPEG XL photography credited to Max Evans / NSF and SpaceX. The KDE interface adapts to desktop and narrow windows and includes reduced-motion controls.

  • Windows 10/11 x64: extract the portable ZIP and run starship-journal.exe.
  • Linux x86_64: choose AppImage, tar.gz, DEB, or RPM. Requires glibc 2.41+ (Debian 13+, Ubuntu 25.04+, Fedora 42+). Make the AppImage executable; use --appimage-extract-and-run if FUSE is unavailable. For the tarball, extract and run AppRun.
  • macOS 15+ Apple Silicon: open the DMG and drag Starship.app to Applications, or extract the ZIP. This alpha is ad-hoc signed and not Apple-notarized; macOS may require allowing it in Privacy & Security. Intel Macs are not supported by these downloads.

Qt, Kirigami, icons, and JPEG XL dependencies are bundled. SHA256SUMS.txt verifies every package; the macOS compatibility JSON records the exact requirements.

Validation and alpha status

These are the exact verified packages from commit 70b4b4f, with all Windows, Linux, and macOS builds, 14 backend tests, and packaged desktop/narrow UI checks passing. Build results and screenshots.

This is an early alpha. Launch windows may change; countdowns begin only when a precise launch time is available. Photography remains the property of its credited creators. The app is independent and is not affiliated with SpaceX or NSF.
