The first release of KidneyHD Audio, a user-space USB audio driver for Line 6 POD HD pedals on macOS 14 or later.

  • Plays and records 48 kHz, 24-bit stereo through the pedal's USB port.
  • Reports its measured latency, 70 frames each way, so your DAW lines up recordings.
  • Follows the macOS volume slider and keys.
  • Its control service shares the pedal's editing channel, so preset editors work while audio plays.

It has been tested on the POD HD Desktop. The HD500, HD500X, HD Pro and HD Pro X use the same USB interface and are expected to work. If you own one, please open an issue with your results.

Install

Download KidneyHD-Audio.pkg and open it. It is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple. The installer restarts Core Audio, so sound on the Mac stops for a moment. Then plug in the pedal and choose it in System Settings › Sound or in your DAW, with the project set to 48 kHz.

To uninstall, run this in Terminal:

sudo "/Library/Application Support/KidneyHD Audio/uninstall.sh"
