Movement and noise

Each gait trades speed against how far the hunter can hear you:

Gait Speed Noise
Sneak (Ctrl / C) Slowest Near-silent
Walk (default) Normal Audible nearby
Run (Shift) Fastest Loud

Vents are slow and dark, and they creak — crawling is quiet in open space but not free inside a duct.

The motion tracker's ping is a real in-world sound. Raising it to find the hunter also tells the hunter roughly where you are, and it learns to respond to the ping over time.
