v2.0.3 — security fix: vault sync trust + path containment

@github-actions github-actions released this 29 Oct 17:04

Security

  • Vault sync is accepted only from confirmed contacts. sync_request,
    sync_response and obsidian_update frames were handled for any peer with a
    valid signature, without a handshake. They are now dropped (with a rejected
    ACK) unless the sender's handshake is confirmed, so an unknown peer can no
    longer read the vault or write to it.
  • Note paths can no longer escape the vault. Note paths from peers were
    joined to vaultPath unchecked, so a path with .. segments could write or
    delete any file the daemon could reach. All vault reads, writes and deletes
    now go through one resolver. It rejects absolute paths, .. segments, hidden
    segments (such as .git/hooks, .obsidian/plugins), non-.md files and
    symlink escapes, and it writes without following a symlink at the target.
    If you run with obsidian.enabled, upgrade, and don't run the daemon as
    root.
