esp-emu-peris v0.10.3

Choose a tag to compare

@darceye darceye released this 02 Nov 02:06

What's new

  • python serve.py is now self-bootstrapping: if vendor/esp-emu-browser/www/pkg is missing, serve.py runs tools/fetch_esp_emu.py itself (honours https_proxy) and starts serving once the download finishes — the separate install step is optional. A custom --www target is never auto-fetched into and still errors clearly.
  • Removed the misleading "run npm run build first" hints from error messages; python tools/fetch_esp_emu.py is the single canonical instruction.

Install from this package

unzip esp-emu-peris-0.10.3.zip && cd esp-emu-peris-0.10.3
python serve.py     # that's all — the esp-emulator browser build is fetched
                    # automatically on first run (needs https_proxy set if
                    # behind a firewall, e.g. https_proxy=http://127.0.0.1:10809)
                    # open http://127.0.0.1:8080/esp-emu-peris.html

Baseline: esp-emulator v0.51.0 (wasm). Full changelog: docs/CHANGELOG.md in the repo。中文说明见 README.zh-cn.md。

@darceye darceye released this 02 Nov 01:57

What's new

Fresh-install fixes and a much leaner package (validated by re-testing a clean git clone and a clean release install):

  • npm test on a fresh clone no longer crashes — the m1 smoke test / M0 probe skip with a clear explanation when the gitignored ESP-IDF firmware artifact is missing (explicitly passed firmware paths still hard-fail).
  • npm run serve works straight after git clone + npm install — it fetches the esp-emulator browser build first (preserve hook).
  • Runtime-only release package: sources, tests and docs are no longer shipped — exactly what python serve.py needs plus the installer (entry html, compiled build/, peris/, examples/, serve.py, install.sh/install.bat, fetch tool, LICENSE, READMEs). 122 → 69 files, roughly half the size. For sources/tests/docs, git clone the repo.

Install from this package

unzip esp-emu-peris-0.10.2.zip && cd esp-emu-peris-0.10.2
./install.sh        # Windows: install.bat
                    # behind a firewall first: export https_proxy=http://127.0.0.1:10809
python serve.py     # open http://127.0.0.1:8080/esp-emu-peris.html

Baseline: esp-emulator v0.51.0 (wasm). Full changelog: docs/CHANGELOG.md in the repo。中文说明见 README.zh-cn.md。

@darceye darceye released this 02 Nov 01:40

What's new

  • Self-contained setup — the machine-local absolute path to the esp-emulator browser checkout is gone. npm run build / npm test now fetch the esp-emulator browser (wasm) build from the espressif/esp-emulator GitHub release into vendor/esp-emu-browser/ automatically on first run (tools/fetch_esp_emu.py: honours https_proxy, sha256-verified against the release SHA256SUMS, cached in vendor/downloads/, idempotent; --version <ver> switches the baseline). serve.py, sync_www.py and the tests default to the vendored copy (--www / ESP_EMU_WWW override).
  • Release packages (this page): the archives ship the UI pre-compiled plus install.sh / install.bat, which download the esp-emulator browser build. A release user needs only Python 3 — no npm/node.

Install from this package

unzip esp-emu-peris-0.10.1.zip && cd esp-emu-peris-0.10.1
./install.sh        # Windows: install.bat
                    # behind a firewall first: export https_proxy=http://127.0.0.1:10809
python serve.py     # open http://127.0.0.1:8080/esp-emu-peris.html

Then pick a chip and drop a merged flash image (idf.py merge-bin) onto the page. Examples in examples/, 中文说明见 README.zh-cn.md。
