Breaking Changes

  • Runtime upgraded from node16 to node24 — node20 is deprecated by GitHub on March 4, 2026. Update your workflows from @v2 to @v3.

Bug Fixes

  • Fix version resolution to use semver sorting — Previously relied on GitHub's releases API iteration order to find the "latest" version. The API ordering is not reliably chronological, causing the wizard to pick an older version as the base for bumping (e.g. v0.146.0 instead of v1.0.0). Now collects all matching published releases and picks the highest semver.
  • Fix stateful global regexes in commit parser — The g flag on prRegExp, taskRegExp, and majorRegExp caused .exec() to persist lastIndex across formatCommit calls, silently missing PR/task/major matches in subsequent commits.
  • Deduplicate retrieveLastReleasedVersion API calls — Was called twice per run (once for baseTag, once inside bumpVersion), causing two full paginations through all releases. Now called once and the result is passed through.

  • @actions/core: ^1.10.0 → ^2.0.0 (latest CJS-compatible; v3 is ESM-only)
  • @actions/github: ^5.1.1 → ^8.0.0 (latest CJS-compatible; v9 is ESM-only)
