v1.4.0 - Intelligent Error Handling & UI Overhaul

Choose a tag to compare

@darwin-256 darwin-256 released this 11 Sep 11:38
a2ddee2

This is a major update focused on making the uploader smarter, more resilient, and easier on the eyes. The script now automatically handles common errors, skips duplicates, validates your input, and features a completely overhauled UI that's both beautiful and flicker-free, even with hundreds of chapters.

✨ New Features & Improvements

1. Intelligent Error Handling & Robustness

  • 🤖 Automatic Retries: The script will now automatically retry uploads up to 3 times if it encounters a temporary server error (like a 500 or 524 error), reducing failures from network hiccups.
  • ✅ Smart Duplicate Skipping: If you try to upload a chapter that already exists, the script will now intelligently detect this, mark it as "Skipped (Exists)", and move on without getting stuck or reporting an error.
  • 🔗 Manga URL Validation: Before you configure your upload, the script now validates the manga URL against the Comick.io API to ensure it's a valid link, preventing wasted effort.
  • 📝 Failure Reporting: If any chapters fail after all retries, a clean failed.txt is generated, giving you a simple list of folders to check.

2. UI & User Experience Overhaul

  • 🎨 Colorized UI: The entire command-line interface now uses colors for better readability. Success messages are green, failures are red, and prompts are cyan, making it easy to see the status at a glance.
  • 📄 Flicker-Free Paginated View: For large batches, the UI now only displays 25 chapters at a time. It automatically scrolls as tasks are completed, eliminating the screen flickering and glitching that occurred with long lists.
  • 🛑 "Press Enter to exit": The .exe will now pause after finishing, giving you time to read the final summary before the window closes.

Full Changelog

  • Added: Automatic retry mechanism for temporary server errors.
  • Added: Logic to parse error messages and intelligently skip chapters that already exist.
  • Added: Pre-upload validation of the manga URL against the Comick API.
  • Added: colorama for cross-platform colored terminal output.
  • Added: A final input() prompt to prevent the .exe window from closing immediately.
  • Improved: The UI renderer is now paginated to eliminate flickering with large batches.
  • Improved: Error messages in the UI are now more specific.

Choose a tag to compare

@darwin-256 darwin-256 released this 10 Sep 16:19
cebb0bc

This is a huge quality-of-life update that introduces automatic chapter title parsing directly from your folder names! This significantly speeds up the upload process by removing the need to enter titles manually on the website.

✨ New Feature: Automatic Title Parsing

The script now intelligently reads your chapter folder names to extract both the chapter number and its title.

Simply name your folders using the format: ChapterNumber - Chapter Title

For example:

  • A folder named 21 will be uploaded as Chapter 21.
  • A folder named 21.5 - The Next Step will be uploaded as Chapter 21.5 with the title "The Next Step".

The script will display the parsed numbers and titles for you to review in the summary before you start the upload.

Full Changelog

  • Added: The core logic to parse chapter numbers and titles from folder names using a - separator.
  • Added: The "Found Chapters" summary now lists each chapter with its detected title for easy verification.
  • Updated: The final payload sent to the Comick.io API now includes the title field when one is found.
