Is your ibus daemon installed and running? If not try $ sudo apt-get install ibus |
@darkstrike420 Tested latest version v0.9.11.6 on Kubuntu 14.04 - connects immediatly and downloads blockchain. The errormessage re. ibus seems not related. Please try running latest wallet --> https://github.com/darkcoinproject/darkcoin-binaries/raw/master/darkcoin-0.9.11.6-linux.tar.gz and see if this resolves your issue. |
@DeathRay1977 I did not have it. Just installed it and had to reboot. Thanks. @schinzelh I just downloaded the latest wallet (RC3). The same issue persists. I had previously configured the Wallet to run through SOCKS5 and I cannot unset this option. I could not do it before downloading the update either. Thanks for assistance. |
Its not grayed out. I uncheck it, hit apply then it goes back to checked by itself. File -> Exit. Then i start Darkcoin wallet and the checkbox is still checked. |
Hmm, i would suggest to close qt, save your wallet.dat, wipe .darkcoin directory and restart qt. This socks5 setting has to be stored somewhere^^ |
I did rm -rf .darkcoin as root. I started darkcoin-qt and the socks 5 setting is still checked. This ".darkcoin" folder was located in my $username folder. Is there any other place it could be located at? |
Can you have a look if there is a $HOME/.config folder? It seems Qt is storing the settings there by default "On Unix systems, if the file format is NativeFormat, the following files are used by default: |
Hi, i had a look at my Kubuntu system, and indeed there is a folder $HOME/.config/DarkCoin where you can find the file DarkCoin-Qt.conf The SOCKS settings is stored there: [General] Stop Qt, delete that file, start Qt again and see if this resolves your issue. |
I did that. It connected and is now downloading the blockchain. I can now enable/disable SOCKS5 too. No connections were made when I used SOCKS5. I use Tor. Without it, it works. |
Cool, i guess the file had the wrong permissions and was not writeable by Qt. For the Tor/SOCKS5 setup: its highly probable that this is setup is not working yet, as the dnsseeder has no valid *.onion address yet. I will have a look at this, and see if i can add a tor/onion seeder. Keep you posted. |
The SOCKS5 setup works fine on Microsoft Windows. It doesnt on Kubuntu 14.04 however. |
Bootstrapping a wallet over tor/SOCKS5 does not work for me on Windows either. As soon as you have single connection you can enable SOCKS5, but if you start from scratch with SOCKS5 from the very beginning (using commandline options), there will be no blocksource available. |
I think flare needs to make SOCKS non-default in the most recent builds. It is enabled by default and confuses newbies when they cannot connect to any node (with or without darkcoin.conf with valid nodes) |
