What's new in 0.9.9 — Tells You Why

  • Advanced Mode's speed dating now crowns the winner at your Balance setting. The report, "gets the rose" and the log used to name the balanced winner, while Top Match, which follows the fader, named someone else.
  • A judge RigMatch picks for you no longer marks its own answers in the question round. When the judge is also a contestant, another installed model marks that contestant's answers, or fixed rules do if there is no other. A judge you picked yourself stays. Labs got this fix in 0.9.6.
  • Top Match for pictures and reading now compares only your latest comparison, the same one the Comparison screen shows first. It used to rank a quick cat from an old prompt against today's lighthouse.
  • In Simple Mode, a model whose download failed, and that you carried on without, no longer counts in the show. The stage used to say "contestant 1 of 3" when only two were running, and a model that never ran could read "Done". Changing your lineup after a show now clears the Winner and the ticks on the show's steps, so the Winner screen never crowns a show these models didn't run.
  • Choosing "Makes pictures", "Makes sound" or "Makes video" in Pick no longer leaves a greyed-out "Pick 2 or more" button at the bottom. The footer points at the button on the card, which is what these use.
  • A Lab result that can't be saved because storage is full is kept for the rest of the session, and RigMatch tells you it couldn't save it. It used to say the test finished and then lose the result.
  • "Chat with" tells you when RigMatch Chat is already open in its own window, instead of seeming to do nothing. If RigMatch Chat won't start, the chat inside RigMatch opens and says why.
  • You can stop the Ollama installer download. Both install screens have a Stop button beside the progress bar.
  • My PC shows ComfyUI. Setup Doctor has a new line that says whether ComfyUI is ready (and how many picture models it has), busy, not running, or not found. Not running offers a Start button when RigMatch knows where ComfyUI is, and otherwise asks you to start it the way you usually do. Not found means RigMatch has never seen it, and says what it needs with a link to get it. The ComfyUI light in the top bar says "not found" only in that case, and clicking it takes you to that line. Setup Doctor also counts LM Studio, so with only LM Studio running it no longer says you need to set up Ollama.
  • My PC reads the CUDA version again on NVIDIA's newest drivers. Driver 610 renamed the line RigMatch reads, so it showed "Unknown".
  • On Linux, AMD graphics cards report their real memory. RigMatch read a Radeon RX 7900 XTX as 1 MB and sized every pick for the integrated graphics beside it.
  • On Linux, free space comes from the drive your models are really on, even when your home folder is a link to another drive, as on Bazzite and Fedora Silverblue. RigMatch showed 0 GB free there.
  • Installing Ollama from inside RigMatch works on Windows again. RigMatch capped the installer download at 300 MB, and Ollama's Windows installer is now about 1.6 GB, so it stopped about a fifth of the way through every time.
  • Downloads only happen when you ask. Closing a failed download's message no longer starts the download again, and a model you take off the queue no longer downloads when its turn comes. The X on a picture or video model's download stops it. A download started from the Models screen shows the model's terms first, like everywhere else. "Get" on a model that's too big for your PC is greyed out and says why, instead of offering "download anyway?" and then refusing. The download box shows the download that is running now, and Pause appears only where it works. Picture and video files can't be paused.
  • Clearing scores clears them. After "Clear all scores" or "Clear all data" and a restart, a 0.0 score no longer comes back for the model you had selected. Clearing also removes saved show reports and their answers, as the dialog always said it did, and "Clear score" on one model takes it out of every report. When you close RigMatch, "Everything except your match" keeps the Top Match shown on screen. It used to keep the highest score, so it could delete the model RigMatch was showing as your match. An untested model no longer borrows another's score either. gemma3:4b-it-qat used to show gemma3:4b's number.
  • Simple Mode's picture, listening and coding rounds are scored on this show only. A model that fails the round is no longer ranked on an old result. The coding round works with judge grading off, which is the default. Another installed model marks the code. It also no longer builds apps after its questions failed. Share on the Winner screen shares the winner, not your Top Match from earlier.
  • RigMatch Chat has a Copy button on every answer and every code block. While a model loads into memory, the chat says "Loading … the first answer takes longer" instead of only "typing…".
  • RigMatch Chat warns when a chat or a paste is longer than the model can hold, and can summarise it, as it was meant to. The memory meter read "NaN", so a long paste lost its beginning without a word. A picture or recording you attach is sent once, not again with every later message. If Chat can't read its saved history, it keeps a copy and tells you, instead of starting empty and saving over it. When Ollama refuses a request, Chat shows Ollama's reason. A model installed as :latest no longer disappears, chats and all, once you install another size of it.
  • The chat inside RigMatch, used for LM Studio models and when RigMatch Chat can't open, remembers the conversation. It used to send only your last message. It keeps your line breaks, shows Ollama's error instead of an empty reply, turns thinking off so answers aren't cut short, and says why a file wasn't attached.
  • Quitting RigMatch in the middle of a test unloads the model it was testing, instead of leaving it in your graphics memory for ten minutes. A judge from the other program (Ollama or LM Studio) no longer loads beside the model it is marking. Stop on a picture also takes it out of ComfyUI's queue, and a ComfyUI too busy to answer no longer makes your picture models look uninstalled.
  • Smaller fixes. A Lab's Run button can't start a test twice, and a picture test keeps its Stop when you leave the screen. The Listening Lab shows the result for the model you picked. "Logs" after a failed show opens the logs. "Export model profile" exports the model on its page. Showing the welcome again keeps your mode and your goals. Typing 8188 in ComfyUI settings now wins over a copy found on 8000. After "Clear all data", RigMatch no longer greets you with "New in this version… your scores are untouched". Ollama's update check says when it couldn't reach GitHub, and app update errors now show. "How we score" says a cloud judge, once turned on, is sent the answers. You can bring back the quick-check sheet in Preferences.
  • RigMatch Chat's network security library, rustls, is updated to 0.23.46 for four published security advisories.

Downloads

  • Windows: RigMatch-*-win-x64.exe (installer), or RigMatch-*-win-x64.zip — unpack it anywhere and run RigMatch.exe, which installs nothing and skips the SmartScreen prompt below
  • macOS Apple Silicon: RigMatch-*-mac-arm64.dmg
  • macOS Intel: RigMatch-*-mac-x64.dmg
  • Linux x64: RigMatch-*-linux-x86_64.AppImage or RigMatch-*-linux-amd64.deb
  • Linux ARM64 / Jetson: RigMatch-*-linux-arm64.AppImage or RigMatch-*-linux-arm64.deb

Already running an older install? It updates itself to this version automatically — nothing to re-download.

Windows first launch

RigMatch for Windows is an unsigned beta, so Microsoft Defender SmartScreen will almost certainly stop it the first time. That warning means the file has no code-signing certificate yet and has not been downloaded enough times to build a reputation — not that anything is wrong with it.

  1. Download RigMatch-*-win-x64.exe.
  2. If SmartScreen says "Windows protected your PC", choose More info, then Run anyway.
  3. If your browser blocks the download instead, choose Keep and, where asked, Keep anyway.

Prefer not to click through a warning at all? Take the .zip from Downloads above instead.

Either way, verify what you downloaded against SHA256SUMS.txt on this release:

Get-FileHash RigMatch-*-win-x64.exe -Algorithm SHA256

A signing certificate is on the roadmap; until it is bought and the reputation builds, this warning is expected on every release.

What you can check in the meantime: every file here is published with GitHub build provenance, a signed record of which workflow built it, from which commit. With the gh CLI:

gh attestation verify RigMatch-*-win-x64.exe --repo DaveEuson/RigMatch

That proves the file came from this repository's release workflow and has not been altered since. It is not code signing, and Windows will still show its warning.

macOS first launch

RigMatch for macOS is currently an unsigned beta distributed outside the App Store. On first launch, macOS may say the developer cannot be verified or that the app was downloaded from the internet.

  1. Download RigMatch-*-mac-arm64.dmg for Apple Silicon/M-series Macs, or RigMatch-*-mac-x64.dmg for Intel Macs.
  2. Open the .dmg and drag RigMatch to Applications.
  3. First launch only: right-click or Control-click RigMatch.app, choose Open, then choose Open again.
  4. If macOS still blocks it, open System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll to Security, and choose Open Anyway for RigMatch.

After that first approval, RigMatch opens normally by double-clicking. If macOS says the app is damaged after copying it to Applications, run this Terminal command once:

xattr -cr /Applications/RigMatch.app
