ipx 1.3.0 (Go, Linux)

Choose a tag to compare

@dcenterd dcenterd released this 05 Nov 16:41

Adds a TCP port ping: ipx --ping --port N times a TCP connect to the port each round, for networks where ICMP is blocked or ping is not installed.

  • Live line per probe: reply (port open), port closed (RST) (host up, port closed) or timeout.
  • Ends with a clear verdict: ✔ Port ping OK, ! partly OK, ! Host is up, port closed or ✘ FAILED. Exit status is 0 only if the port answered as open.
  • TCP only (-U gives an error); no system ping needed.

Also in this build since 1.0.0: nc-style --port check, -l PORT listener, -U, silent --live with q to quit, -o/--output, no TCP trace.

Install: tar xzf ipx-1.3.0-linux-amd64.tar.gz && sudo install ipx-1.3.0-linux-amd64/ipx /usr/local/bin/

ipx 1.2.0 (Go, Linux)

@dcenterd dcenterd released this 05 Nov 16:25

Adds -l PORT / --listen PORT: an nc -l style TCP listener (accepts one connection, relays stdin/stdout; --bind ADDR selects the address). Status goes to stderr so stdout carries only data. No host argument needed with -l.

Includes everything from 1.1.0 (nc-style --port check, -U, silent --live with q to quit, -o/--output, no TCP trace).

Install: tar xzf ipx-1.2.0-linux-amd64.tar.gz && sudo install ipx-1.2.0-linux-amd64/ipx /usr/local/bin/

ipx 1.1.0 (Go, Linux)

Choose a tag to compare

@dcenterd dcenterd released this 05 Nov 16:12

Go port of ipx.py, now matching the Python version.

Changes since 1.0.0

  • --port N: nc-style check of a TCP and/or UDP port (-T / -U pick one); exit status 0 if open.
  • -U is now the UDP shortcut (was -u).
  • Removed: TCP traceroute (-P tcp, TCP in --compare) and TCP ping.
  • --live discovers the path silently and stops on q.
  • -o / --output FILE saves a plain-text copy of the results.
  • Startup check for the system ping with a distro-specific install hint (not needed for --port, --scan, -U).

Install: tar xzf ipx-1.1.0-linux-amd64.tar.gz && sudo install ipx-1.1.0-linux-amd64/ipx /usr/local/bin/

Verify with sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS. Details: ipx-go/README.md

ipx 1.0.0 (Go, Linux)

Choose a tag to compare

@dcenterd dcenterd released this 05 Nov 09:37

Go port of ipx.py as a single static Linux binary (amd64 and arm64). Traceroute over ICMP/UDP/TCP with per-hop ASN, path MTU, protocol/host compare, live hop stats, ping (default 5 probes) and TCP/UDP port scan. No root needed; ICMP uses the system ping.

Install: tar xzf ipx-1.0.0-linux-amd64.tar.gz && sudo install ipx-1.0.0-linux-amd64/ipx /usr/local/bin/
