v0.1.8

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Nov 23:49

Draw on your sketches, export to Excalidraw.

What's new

  • Drawing mode: click ✎ Draw on any sketch to mark it up with a red pen, a highlighter, notes and an eraser. Type a question and press Send to AI: the AI gets the marked-up drawing and the names of the parts you marked. Your marks are kept in every export.
  • Excalidraw export: a new button saves the drawing as a .excalidraw file. Open it on excalidraw.com to keep editing: shapes, labels, groups and bound arrows stay editable; circuit parts, icons and photos come along as images, photo credits included.
  • Watermark: a faint "sketchy" in the bottom-right corner of every drawing and export.
  • Website, README and npm description now name Cursor and VS Code next to Claude.

Install

  • Claude desktop app (Code tab): download the .mcpb for your platform below.
  • Claude chat: upload sketchy-skill-0.1.8.zip (or the -pinned variant).
  • Cursor / VS Code: one click on sketchy.davidkubus.dev, or add npx -y @ddkbs/sketchy as an MCP server.
  • Claude Code in the terminal: claude mcp add sketchy --scope user -- npx -y @ddkbs/sketchy

v0.1.7

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Nov 22:34

Sketchy is now on npm and works in Cursor and VS Code.

Install

  • Claude desktop app (Code tab): download the .mcpb for your platform below.
  • Claude chat: upload sketchy-skill-0.1.7.zip (or the -pinned variant).
  • Cursor / VS Code: one click on sketchy.davidkubus.dev, or add npx -y @ddkbs/sketchy as an MCP server.
  • Claude Code in the terminal: claude mcp add sketchy --scope user -- npx -y @ddkbs/sketchy

What's new

  • Published to npm as @ddkbs/sketchy: runs on every platform Node.js runs on, no clone needed.
  • One-click install links for Cursor and VS Code, plus a Cursor plugin manifest.
  • The npm package installs the photo-labeling runtime (~470 MB) only the first time you pick a model. The desktop extension still ships it.

Sketchy 0.1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Nov 20:41

Small update with a fix for exporting drawings and install steps for the terminal.

Install

  1. Download the bundle for your platform below: darwin-arm64 (macOS on Apple Silicon), win32-x64 or linux-x64.
  2. Double-click it or drag it into Settings → Extensions in the Claude desktop app.
  3. Open the Code tab and ask, for example: "Explain the Arduino Uno with Sketchy."

Using Claude Code in the terminal? See Claude Code in the terminal.

Added

  • Install steps for Claude Code in the terminal.

Fixed

  • The SVG and PNG buttons now work in hosts without file downloads: the export opens as an image to save, drag out or copy.

Sketchy 0.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 31 Oct 18:28

First release of Sketchy: Claude draws while it explains, with clean, hand-drawn, interactive diagrams right next to the answer.

Note

Drawings currently appear in Claude Code sessions of the Claude desktop app. Support for the regular Claude chat is planned.

Install

Added

  • Scene model with validated tools (sketch, add_box, add_node, add_group, add_edge, label, add_step, …); Claude describes structure, never coordinates.
  • Automatic layout with elkjs: nested groups, orthogonal edge routing, edge labels and collision-free callout labels; picks the more readable flow direction.
  • MCP App viewer with a consistent hand-drawn style (rough.js, Kalam handwriting font, fixed palette), hover details and click-to-open files in VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf or Zed.
  • Step-by-step walkthroughs that circle the relevant elements and fade the rest.
  • SVG and PNG export with embedded fonts.
  • Part library of 50 wokwi-elements parts in a SQLite index with pin aliases (D13, GND, anode), plus place_part, connect and routed wires.
  • Photo labeling: licensed photo search (Wikimedia Commons, Openverse), local Florence-2 grounding with OCR, annotated previews for verification, and a model picker with download progress.
  • Explanation patterns (structure, flow, comparison, metaphor, repository, circuit) as server instructions and prompts.
  • Streamable HTTP mode for remote deployments.
  • MCP Bundle packaging for Claude Desktop, robust against unset extension settings.
  • Viewer fallback that fetches the drawing by view id when a host does not forward result metadata.

Known limitations

  • Drawings appear in Claude Code sessions of the Claude desktop app. The regular Claude chat does not display views from local extensions yet; support is planned.
  • Photo labeling is not available on Intel Macs (no ONNX Runtime build for macOS x64).
