An animated, Matrix-inspired visual masking layer for private-feeling writing in Obsidian.

Whether you write in open offices, flights, cafes, classrooms, or co-working spaces, Confitext protects your screen from wandering eyes without disrupting your writing flow.

  • Type normally. The moment a word is finished with Space or punctuation, Confitext visually transforms it into a subtle Matrix-inspired digital code animation.
  • Zero Document Damage: Confitext uses non-destructive CodeMirror 6 replacement widgets. Your underlying Markdown notes remain 100% untouched plain text at all times.

👁️ Instant Selection & Cursor Reveal

  • Highlight words with your mouse or navigate with keyboard arrow keys — selected text immediately reveals itself for natural reading and editing.
  • Copying selected text copies the original plain text, never the visual glyphs.

🧪 Live Matrix Privacy Sandbox

  • A built-in interactive playground inside plugin settings. Test scramble animations, try different glyph sets, and experience selection reveal in real time.

⏳ Idle Auto-Masking Timer

  • Optional timer that automatically engages Masking mode if Obsidian is left idle or loses operating system window focus.

🛡️ Per-Note & Per-Folder Rules

  • Add confitext: false to YAML frontmatter to designate public notes that should never be masked.
  • Specify folder paths (e.g. Public/, Shared/) to automatically bypass masking for entire directories.

🧩 Full Markdown Syntax Preservation

  • Keeps headings (#), list bullets (-), blockquotes (>), checkboxes ([x]), fenced code blocks (```), inline code, math formulas ($...$), URLs, and footnotes readable.

Quick Start

  1. Open any note and start writing.
  2. Press Space to see words scramble into glyphs.
  3. Drag or double-click to reveal words instantly.
  4. Toggle modes anytime via the left activity ribbon icon or status bar badge (⚡ CONFITEXT: ON / REVEALED).
  5. Open Settings > Confitext to customize speed, opacity, glow, and character presets.
