Patch release. Services on SQLAlchemy 2.1 no longer log an error from the SQLAlchemy instrumentor at start.

Fixed

  • opentelemetry-instrumentation-sqlalchemy 0.66b1 declares sqlalchemy >= 1.0.0, < 2.1.0. On SQLAlchemy 2.1.x, setup_monitoring logged SQLAlchemyInstrumentor only instruments ... at level error and the instrumentor did not switch on. It is now switched on without the version check, so behaviour on 2.1 matches 2.0.

Known gap

  • With async (aiosqlite) engines, SQLAlchemy instrumentation records only connect spans, not the statements. This is unchanged from earlier releases and on SQLAlchemy 2.0.

Upgrading

  • No changes needed.
