Knot 0.2.65

@dinesh4720 dinesh4720 released this 04 Nov 14:20

draw.io and Excalidraw diagrams come into flows as they were drawn:

  • Paste a draw.io or Excalidraw diagram, or open one with the new Import button (beside Export, on an empty flow, or ⌘O), and it looks the way it did there: the same fills and outline colours, outline widths, dashes, opacity, rounded corners and rotation, and words in the same size, weight, colour and place.
  • draw.io entity tables come in as tables, with their fields, PK and FK keys, nulls and uniques, header colour and row height. ER arrows keep their crow's feet.
  • Boxes drawn around other boxes (zones, lanes, cards) hold what's inside them and keep their size. Words sitting in a box become its name; lines on their own stay lines.
  • Arrows keep where they meet each shape and their bends, and labels keep their colour and size.
  • In the dark theme a drawing's own colours turn the way draw.io's and Excalidraw's do.
  • Export to draw.io or Excalidraw sends these back out the same way.
  • Fixes: a collapsed region opens with everything where it was; an arrow moved to another shape is routed afresh; a drawn line keeps its shape when resized.

Windows also gets everything in 0.2.64 (themes and the tidier app).

@dinesh4720 dinesh4720 released this 04 Nov 10:34

Themes, and a tidier app:

  • Seven themes, each in light and dark: Graphite (as before), Paper, Clay, Slate, Moss, Mono and High contrast. Pick one in Settings → General → Theme, or Theme in the menu under your initial; the new one opens out from where you picked it.
  • Spacing and type across every screen: each panel's contents share one inner edge, controls and rows are 28px, dialog fields are taller with larger text, line spacing is even, and corners follow the theme.
  • Easier to read: quiet text (counts, times, hints) is darker, and toasts, backdrops and switches follow the theme.
  • Fixes: clipped labels in Libraries, the Variable modes row and account names; the focus ring left on Settings' General tab; the tab's ⌄ touching its close button.

Windows stays at 0.2.63.

Flows are easier to use:

  • The chat is a small box at the bottom left (⌘J shows or hides it). The right panel shows only when something is selected (⌃] keeps it open), and the Code tab sits behind a Code button.
  • Tables take as many fields as you add, from the panel or from "+ Add field" under a selected table. Enter moves from name to type to the next field.
  • Paste Excalidraw code, including JSON written by an AI or wrapped in ```json, and it comes in as drawn. A pasted drawing goes to a clear spot instead of on top of what's there.
  • draw.io: paste its XML, import or drop a .drawio file, or export with Copy for draw.io and Download .drawio.
  • Selecting a node inside a region lights up the region.
  • Esc cancels a drag or a drawing, arrows can be moved to another shape, arrow labels can be dragged, ⌘X cuts, and ⌥ keys align and distribute.
  • Fixes: Mermaid export with line breaks in labels or ids like title; pasting a node that's already there; undo after naming a node; many smaller fixes in the Code tab and the panel.

  • Flows can be drawn by hand, like a whiteboard: choose Free in the flow toolbar (a flow you start drawing on an empty canvas is free already). Draw boxes, diamonds, ellipses, arrows, lines and text on Excalidraw's keys (R, D, O, A, L, T, E for the eraser, Q to keep a tool), then type the name. Shapes stay where you put them, snap to each other's edges and centres, resize from their corners, and arrows follow them. Tidy up (⇧A) arranges it once; Auto layout and everything else is still there.
  • Paste a drawing copied from Excalidraw into a flow, or import a .excalidraw file, and it becomes an editable flow, laid out as drawn.
  • Export a flow as Mermaid (.mmd, colours included) or for Excalidraw (copy, or a .excalidraw file).
  • Fixes: the flow toolbar looks right again; Mermaid circles come back as ellipses; messages no longer cover the flow toolbar.

  • When an agent finishes a task, your Mac's trackpad gives a short buzz (three quick taps), felt while a finger rests on it. It waits until the review and any fix it asks for are done, so one task is one buzz, and a task you stop doesn't buzz.

Knot 0.2.60

@dinesh4720 dinesh4720 released this 03 Nov 10:49
  • Home shows your designs the moment it opens, and each design keeps a picture of its first board for its card.
  • Home: sort by Last opened, ⇧ or ⌘ click to pick several designs (Move, Export, Trash for all of them), drag a design onto a project to move it, rename in place with F2, and Undo after a move, rename or trash. Empty designs say how many pages they have.
  • Search is ready from the first query. An empty box lists your recent places, Escape takes back one word at a time, ⌘Return opens a result in a new tab, and with a project open you can search just that project.
  • ⇧⌘T reopens the last closed tab, and the tab you click shows a loading line. Big files build the boards in view first and count them while they open; pictures fade in after.
  • Editor: arrow keys show the X and Y beside the layer, ⌘/ ticks the tool you're using, and K gets its own cursor.
  • Left panel: Chat, Layers and Assets stay put on every tab (the pages list sits under them), the highlight slides to the tab you pick, pages can be dragged to reorder, and a dropped connection shows Reconnecting by the save dot.
  • Variable modes: two to four modes switch with a sliding control, the summary names each collection, and the Variables window fits every mode column.
  • Chat: the References pill has its right name, a working task can be stopped from its card, the last reply always shows its actions, and a failure stays as a card with Retry until you dismiss it.
  • Motion asks before adding a 3D world to a frame.
  • Export shows each file land, then Show in Finder. Version history lists versions first; drag one toward the canvas to restore it.
  • A design whose font isn't installed says so once, with Install font.
  • Mac only. Windows stays at 0.2.59 and Linux at 0.2.19.

Knot 0.2.59

@dinesh4720 dinesh4720 released this 03 Nov 07:38
  • New: Motion mode. A Motion tab beside Design and Prototype controls a website's scene itself. Add a 3D world (shapes, text, particles, lights or your own .glb models), move, turn and scale things with handles (W, E, R), look round with a free camera (F), key any property over the scroll, and set the look: environment, bloom, depth of field, grain, your own shader, antialiasing and shadows. Press C and say what you want, and an edit to a 3D world lands in a few seconds.
  • Agents work like a designer: a small edit takes a step or two and a one-sentence reply, small turns skip the review, and the review judges only what changed. A file no longer stops at 20 tasks.
  • A finished turn shows just the reply. Hover it for Show on canvas, Undo and its steps. While an agent works, the time shows only after 20 seconds.
  • Faster: designs open with much less work on the server, Knot starts sooner, Home's inspector draws only what's in view, and boards with gradients reuse their pictures.
  • A design left closed for 10 minutes gives its memory back, and opens again exactly as it was.
  • A program an agent leaves running (a site's dev server, say) keeps running, and an agent's error stays in the chat after a restart.
  • A design whose font isn't installed opens: its text keeps the font's name and draws in Inter until the font is back.
  • New frames go in the nearest free spot (frame sizes, ⌘D, pasted boards and agents' boards), and the view pans to them. A paste goes inside the selected frame only when it fits, as in Figma.
  • Agents' screenshots of wide boards work, and their tools fail less.
  • Windows: this version is out for Windows 10 and 11 (x64) and Windows 11 on Arm too, the first Windows build since 0.2.19. Linux stays at 0.2.19.

Knot 0.2.58

@dinesh4720 dinesh4720 released this 03 Nov 04:09
  • New: change a website's motion on the canvas. The film strip button beside ▷ stops the site in its board's place, with a strip to go to any moment, forwards or backwards.
  • Move: drag a layer at any moment. The old path stays dashed beside the new one; pick Just here, From here on or Always.
  • Sketch: loop what a scene draws and draw where it should go, and a rough version plays at once. Send it with a few words and the agent brings back takes.
  • Takes: other timings of a part side by side. Keep one, or More like this. The agent's takes land beside them, and nothing in the site changes until you keep one.
  • Fix: a link's picture waits for the page's pictures in view and its opening animation, so it shows the finished page.
  • Self guide: the product's font is set everywhere through one variable when the library's styles carry another.

Knot 0.2.57

@dinesh4720 dinesh4720 released this 02 Nov 07:02
  • Fix: shared snapshots run on their own address, apart from the app, so nothing in a snapshot can reach it. Older snapshots still open.
  • Fix: what agents fetch from the web stays on the public web. Every redirect and every resolved address is checked, for web pictures, stock photos and pictures in Pen and Figma paste.
  • Fix: a context link can't be redirected to this Mac or your network, and the same goes for the picture of its page. A public-looking name that leads to a private network is refused. A plain local address still works.
  • Fix: studying a public site can't reach this Mac or your network.
  • Fix: a fetch no longer hangs on a 101 reply, and a crafted page can't freeze the app.

Knot 0.2.56

@dinesh4720 dinesh4720 released this 01 Nov 11:36
  • Make motion websites. Ask for a website and the agent comes up with a concept, draws each moment as boards, builds it, then films it to check the timing before it says it's done.
  • Choose what a website has. A new website starts with a card of ticks: 3D scenes, shaders, particles, video, scroll animation, pinned sections, text animation, page transitions, a loading intro, cursor effects, how it scrolls, and sound. The agent ticks what it would use, you change it and press Build it. What you tick goes in, and what you leave out stays out.
  • Play a website. Press play on its board and it opens in a window of its own, with Desktop and Phone sizes. Agents build the phone version too.
  • Export site (HTML) gives a folder that runs on any web host, and Share sends the running site.
  • Shaders can follow the page's scroll.
  • Fix: web pictures now refuse more ways of writing a local address.
