Event Calendar NG 1.22.1

@github-actions github-actions released this 06 Nov 10:34

CalDAV

  • CalDAV events load at login by themselves (#14, sbstn87): when the keyring isn't up yet at the first fetch, the widget tries again a few times (every 15 s) instead of waiting for Refresh.

Tasks

  • New Google tasks no longer disappear after a restart or the next refresh: since 1.5 the list was asked only for tasks done in the last 30 days, and Google then left out the open ones. Open and done tasks are now fetched apart.
  • Completed tasks are those of the last 30 days (Google and TickTick), as the Completed section now says.
  • New tasks go to a list that's shown: the list pickers offer only the task lists selected in settings (a task added to another list was made but never shown).
  • The offline copy keeps a new, edited or deleted task right away, not only after the next refresh; a calendar that keeps failing to refresh leaves it after 14 days.

Faster start

  • Plasma no longer waits for the widget at login: the KDE PIM calendars (Akonadi) and the calendar plugins load a few seconds after it, the camera check's Qt Multimedia when the popup first opens, and the network status in the background.
  • New installs show the holidays without KDE PIM (Settings > Calendars turns it on); existing setups keep their plugins.

Clock and new events (from ALikesToCode's fork)

  • The seconds change with the system clock (they could be up to a second late).
  • New events start in your primary calendar, not the first one you can write to (eg: a shared family calendar), and the picker reads "Calendar (account)".

Month view (thanks to frispete, #29)

  • Show all events (Settings > Views > Calendar, off by default): no "+N", each week as tall as its busiest day; the month scrolls when it doesn't fit, with today's week in the middle.

Reminders

  • CalDAV and .ics events remind at their own alarms, as set on the server or in the file (display and sound alarms), like Google Calendar's reminder times: Settings > Events > "Use the reminder times set in the calendar" (#14, asked by sbstn87). Off, or for events without one, the widget's reminder time.

Settings

  • A General page (at the end): the desktop widget's background, sharing with Glance, the offline start, the settings backup and troubleshooting, in one place (they were spread over Views, Clock and Calendars).

Glance

  • Today's events reach Glance: lists with events didn't get through (gdbus read the JSON as another value), and from the start (an empty list until a whole online round); sending never stalls.
  • "Share events with Glance" is in Settings > General. With it on: the current weather too, a click on an event there opens it here, and a meeting marked as ended ends there as well.

Fixes (thanks to frispete)

  • The Agenda no longer freezes Plasma (#14, #28): an event's tile and its day's layout fought over the tile's width, a layout loop that kept Plasma at 100% CPU with some events.
  • The Agenda opens at today when switched to, and stays there while its days load (#26).
  • The mouse wheel stays in the widget where nothing in it scrolls: on the desktop it no longer switches virtual desktops (#27).

Glance

  • Share events with Glance (Settings > Calendars > General, off by default): today's and tomorrow's events and the current weather for the Glance panel widget, over D-Bus on this computer only (no descriptions or guests' addresses); a click on an event there opens it here.

Agenda

  • The Agenda no longer freezes Plasma with the weather not set up (#14): the meteogram above it showed a "Weather not configured" text that could make the layout loop.
  • The meteogram and the timer above the Agenda are removed; the weather panel beside the Agenda shows the forecast.
  • Settings > Views: the Agenda's settings show also when it isn't the default view.

Weather

  • Settings > Views > Week and Day > Weather turns the forecast off in all the views: the Week view's day headers, the Agenda's days and the weather panel of the Day view and the Agenda (it left some of them on), and no hourly forecast is fetched then.
  • "Day view and Agenda show": the side panels' checkboxes are for both views.

Camera check

  • The camera's own zoom works (eg: a Creative Live! Cam's zoom button): the check opens the camera at 720p, as video calls do, not at its largest size.

Settings

  • The pages' icons are alike: monochrome line icons of one size.

Event Calendar NG 1.18.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 04 Nov 08:35

Fixes

  • Plasma no longer crashes on Refresh with Plasma's calendar plugins on (holidays, KDE PIM), #14: Refresh doesn't load them anew any more, as the Digital Clock doesn't; it reads their data again, and they send their changes themselves.
  • Day view: all-day events no longer drawn a week wide after switching from the Agenda (thanks to frispete, #22).
  • OpenWeatherMap: other days' conditions in the widget's language, not English (thanks to frispete, #25).

Weather

  • Sunrise and sunset in the weather card, beside the temperature (worked out locally at the weather's place; midnight sun and polar night too).
  • Mouse-over details in the weather charts: rest the mouse on the 24-hour chart or the Agenda's meteogram and the hour under it is marked, with its time, temperature, sky and rain, in the chart (the meteogram's tooltip opened at the screen's top) (thanks to frispete, #24).
  • The charts' nights follow the sun at the weather's place, not 20:00–6:00.

Moon (thanks to frispete, #23)

  • A moon box in the Day view and the Agenda's side column: the phase, how much is lit, moonrise and moonset, the next full or new moon, worked out locally. Off by default: Settings > Views > Day view shows > Moon.

Look

  • Islands with translucent cards (Settings > Views > Style): the cards a faint wash over the popup's blurred background, no border or shadow.

Calendar colors (#20)

  • CalDAV and iCalendar calendars get a color you pick: click the calendar's color dot in Settings > Calendars > CalDAV or iCalendar: Google Calendar's colors, or Custom… for any color. A CalDAV calendar keeps its color over Refresh Calendars, and "Server's Color" goes back to the server's. New .ics calendars each get a different color.
  • The color dot of CalDAV calendars in their settings wasn't shown at all.

KDE PIM calendars in Settings (thanks to frispete, #19)

  • A new Akonadi tab in Settings > Calendars: tick which KDE PIM (Akonadi) calendars to show, under their accounts (Akonadi's Google accounts first), with their colors. The PIM events plugin's own settings page isn't needed any more (with an older KDE PIM it stays).
  • Icons: Weather and Time Zones got new ones.

Settings backup (#21)

  • Export and import the widget's settings (Settings > Views > Settings Backup): to a JSON file and back, eg: before removing the widget or for another computer. Passwords and sign-ins aren't in the file (they stay in the system keyring); an imported file can't set them either. Imported settings are kept with Apply or OK.

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Nov 10:28

Fixes

  • CalDAV and .ics calendars without the Python modules (an install from the KDE Store, #14): Settings > Calendars > CalDAV and iCalendar check for icalendar and recurring-ical-events and offer Install (into the widget's own folder, no root). Connecting to a CalDAV server no longer fails with "No module named 'icalendar'", and a .ics calendar says where to install them instead of showing a Python error.

Faster, and you see it load

  • Calendars show as they come: a slow CalDAV server or .ics link no longer holds back the others.
  • A loading bar under the header while calendars load (only when it takes a moment).
  • CalDAV: a calendar unchanged on the server isn't downloaded again on Refresh or the poll (one small request to ask).

Agenda (#16)

  • The header shows the day at the top of the list and follows the scroll; the arrows go day by day, Today back to today.

Time zones (#17)

  • Your own names for time zones (Settings > Time Zones), eg: "Boston" for America/New_York, shown in the clock's tooltip.

Notifications (thanks to frispete, #18)

  • Settings > Events > Other Notifications > "Only calendars in the clock's countdown".
  • Akonadi events without a color named in the calendar menu, not "plasma_Events".

Fixes

  • Refresh reloads Plasma's calendar plugins (holidays, KDE PIM) at most every 30 s: reloading them again while still loading could crash Plasma 6.3 (#14).
  • The reminder before a meeting no longer offers Check Camera (it's in the menus, details and the full-screen alert).
  • README: how to collect the widget's log and a Plasma crash's backtrace for a bug report.

Camera check

  • How you look and sound before a meeting (like Hand Mirror): a window that stays on top, with the camera as a mirror, the microphone's live level and sensitivity, "hear yourself" (headphones), a speaker test, and the camera, microphone and speaker to use, then Join. Nothing is recorded; the camera and the microphone are on only while it's open.
  • Opened from the widget's menu, an event's menu or details, and the reminder before a meeting with a link.
  • Full-screen alert: Settings > Events > Full Screen > Camera check shows the camera above Join; "Microphone and Speaker…" adds the rest.

Faster

  • Month ↔ Week / Day as quick as between the other views: the Week / Day view stays made, the month no longer rebuilds its days, and no in-between state is laid out on a view change.
  • Event tooltips are made when you point at an event, not for every event of a view.

Settings

  • Events: the full screen's and the notification's options apart (Full Screen, Notification).
  • Calendars > iCalendar: .ics files and links as calendars, read-only and offline too (#13).
  • Import from a file: the Python modules it needs can be installed from the import card (#13).
  • The widget's menu: only the meeting's actions, Refresh and the clock settings.

Fixes

  • The header's title in the Agenda zoomed the hidden month out to its year and decade (#16).
  • Day view > all-day tiles applies with OK, as the other settings; an iCalendar calendar's name is saved.
