I am using fedora 27 with Emacs 25.3.1. I installed all-the-fonts from melpa and many icons are not shown properly. I ran the command :
(all-the-icons-insert-icons-for 'alltheicon)
This showed almost all the icons badly

I ran the command all-the-icons-install fonts and it succeeded. Neotree also shows many icons in the same way(the output in the screenshot). Please let me know if I need to run any additional commands or do something else.

I've just updated the README. Can you diagnose the problem according to this troubleshooting guide? Let me know if you still can't solve the problem.

I'm using Fedora 29, and I'm having a similar problem. I tried the guide but the solution given by the comment linked kept on causing my Emacs to segfault. I tried changing the charset to my native language's charset (I'm an American, so I just use unicode) and the problem persisted.
