Virtual-On Masterpiece for Linux and Windows v0.1.0
Native Linux and Windows port of Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Masterpiece 1995~2001 (PS4, CUSA16156). The original PS4 game code runs directly on the PC with its graphics translated to Vulkan; there is no CPU emulation.
No game files are included. You need your own decrypted dump of the game (CUSA16156, version 01.03): the folder with eboot.bin, pjv3.elf, sce_module, sce_sys and the game data.
How to use
- Linux: download
Virtual-On-x86_64.AppImage, make it executable (chmod +x Virtual-On-x86_64.AppImage) and start it.
Windows: downloadvirtualon-windows.zip, extract it and startVirtual-On.exe. - On the Game page, choose your game folder.
- Pick the collection menu or one of the three games and press Play.
Add to Steam adds each of the four as a non-Steam shortcut (on Linux, leave Proton off). On Windows, Play Virtual-On.exe starts the game with the launcher's saved settings, without opening the launcher.
Settings and saves:
- Linux:
~/.local/share/virtualonand~/.config/virtualon-launcher. - Windows: saves and shader caches in
user\next toVirtual-On.exe, launcher options in%APPDATA%\virtualon-launcher.
What works
- Cyber Troopers Virtual-On, Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram and Virtual-On Force: menus and matches, with sound.
- The collection menu, with its logos, title video, music and sound, starting each game and returning to the menu.
- Controller (SDL) and keyboard/mouse, rebindable in the launcher.
- Window sizes above 1080p, upscaled with FSR 1 and RCAS sharpening.
Known limitations
- 60 FPS, as on the PS4 (the games count frames).
- No temporal anti-aliasing, DLSS or FSR 3/4 yet.
- Online play is not available.
Requirements
- Linux, x86-64, with a recent glibc; or Windows 10 (1903 or later) or Windows 11, 64-bit.
- A GPU with Vulkan 1.3 and a current driver (developed on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080).
- On Windows, about 8 GB of free memory (RAM + page file).
