  • Faster uncapped on Linux PCs with 16 or more threads. Above 60 fps, on a Linux PC with 16 or more threads and a graphics card with room in its video memory, part of the game's draw work is now prepared ahead of time on other threads. On an RTX 4070 at 1080p uncapped, Old Yharnam goes from 103 to 118 fps, Cainhurst's courtyard from 106 to 116 and the Nightmare of Mensis from 97 to 101; Central Yharnam is unchanged. At 60 fps and below nothing changes, nor on PCs with fewer threads, integrated graphics or little video memory, where it would cost about a core and gain nothing. On Windows nothing changes in this release: it keeps v0.2.25's path until this has been measured there. The frame rate decides it when the game starts, so a change in F10 applies at the next start (#210).
  • Less memory held on integrated graphics. On laptops with integrated graphics under Windows, and on the Steam Deck, memory the GPU hasn't touched for a minute is now let go, as on graphics cards with little video memory since v0.2.25: in our tests up to 1.45 GB less shared GPU memory on a laptop and 600-780 MB less on the Steam Deck, at the same frame rate (#210).
  • NVIDIA graphics cards under Windows keep that memory again. v0.2.25 let it go on NVIDIA cards with little video memory too, but bringing it back took NVIDIA's Windows driver 23-57 ms each time, at the moment it was needed: arriving back in an area could stall for a quarter of a second. Those cards now keep it, as in v0.2.24 (#210).
