u v0.1.3 — Sidebar and Updates

Choose a tag to compare

@duckfollow duckfollow released this 01 Nov 12:41

u v0.1.3

A refreshed sidebar and Updates experience, with saved appearance preferences and request management.

What’s new

  • Clearer sidebar: grouped navigation, item counts, compact workspace identity, and a larger saved-items area. Import, Export, Theme, and Updates stay at the bottom.
  • Collapse and expand: switch to an icon rail and remember the chosen layout. Narrow windows use an expandable overlay that closes after navigation.
  • Search across your library: find requests and flows together by name, HTTP method, or request URL. Open matching items directly and clear empty searches easily.
  • Updates dialog: check versions and read release notes without leaving the current workspace. Includes release source, installation guidance, and companion tools from duckfollow.
  • Desktop release links: download an available macOS update or view the current release. The browser version retains its source-checkout installer.
  • Appearance: Light, Dark, and System themes with a saved per-device preference and matching desktop window appearance.
  • Request management: delete saved requests from Collections using a confirmation dialog. Copies in flows and request history are retained.

Download and installation

  • Apple Silicon Mac (arm64), macOS 13.5 or later.
  • Download u_0.1.3_aarch64.dmg, quit u, open the DMG, and replace u in Applications.
  • Saved workspace data is retained. Desktop and browser workspaces remain separate.
  • SHA256SUMS.txt contains the installer checksum.
  • The app is ad-hoc signed and passes strict bundle signature verification. It is not Developer ID signed or Apple notarized; macOS may block downloaded builds.
  • Intel Macs, Windows, and Linux have not been validated for this release.

Validation

  • 27 JavaScript/TypeScript tests and 3 native Rust tests passed.
  • TypeScript, production frontend build, and Rust formatting checks passed.
  • Sidebar search, cross-view navigation, empty results, collapse/expand, narrow-window navigation, and light/dark appearance checked in the browser.
  • Native arm64 app and DMG built locally; app signature and DMG integrity verified.
  • Installation on another Mac and interactive testing of this packaged desktop build remain pending.

Run from source

Requires Node.js 24 or later. Desktop builds also require Rust and Xcode Command Line Tools on macOS.

npm ci
npm run dev

For desktop development use npm run dev:desktop; build a DMG with npm run build:dmg.

u v0.1.2 — macOS desktop app

Choose a tag to compare

@duckfollow duckfollow released this 28 Oct 16:25

macOS desktop app

u now runs as a native macOS app built with Tauri 2 + Rust, following Dum-E's project structure. No separately installed Node.js runtime is needed to use the desktop app.

Download

  • u_0.1.2_aarch64.dmg — Mac with Apple Silicon, macOS 13.5 or later, approximately 4.7 MB.
  • Open the DMG and drag u into Applications.
  • This build is ad-hoc signed and its bundle signature has been verified. It is not Developer ID signed or notarized by Apple, so macOS may block opening it under its security policy.

Changes

  • Send HTTP requests directly through Rust, with cancellation, timeouts, and bounded response sizes.
  • Include offline demo API endpoints for trying the example flow.
  • Support GitHub version checks in the desktop app and opening the official release page for DMG updates.
  • Move Updates and the installed version to the sidebar footer.
  • Keep browser mode and its source-checkout updater available.

Validation

  • 27 JavaScript/TypeScript tests passed.
  • 3 native Rust tests passed, including a real local HTTP request with headers and a JSON body.
  • Production build, app signature verification, and DMG checksum verification passed.
  • Opened the packaged app and ran the example flow successfully.

Build from source

Requires Node.js 24+, Rust, and Xcode Command Line Tools on macOS:

npm ci
npm run build:dmg

Desktop updates currently use a downloaded DMG to replace the app. Updates are checked automatically at startup; installation is manual. Workspace data in the desktop app is separate from the browser workspace.

u v0.1.1 — API workflow studio

Choose a tag to compare

@duckfollow duckfollow released this 28 Oct 16:02

First public release of u, a local API workbench and workflow studio.

Version checking and updates

  • Check GitHub Releases automatically when u opens, with a 15-minute cache for startup checks.
  • Show the installed version and a New badge when an update is available.
  • Check manually, view release notes, and install a verified build from the Updates page.
  • Prepare the release in a separate checkout before applying it. Local changes block installation; restart u afterward.

API and flow features

  • Saved HTTP requests with headers, bodies, bearer authentication, environments, and history.
  • Sequential HTTP, transform, condition, and delay steps.
  • For Each and Repeat N times loops, step-by-step runs, cancellation, and per-round outputs.
  • Local workspace storage, JSON import/export, and keyboard-accessible dropdowns.

Getting started

Requires Node.js 24 or later.

git clone https://github.com/duckfollow/u.git
cd u
npm ci
npm run dev

Open http://127.0.0.1:5173.

For a production build, run npm run build followed by npm start, then open http://127.0.0.1:4319.

Validation

  • 27 automated tests passed.
  • TypeScript validation and production build passed.

MIT licensed. This release is a local web application; native desktop packages are not included. Loops are sequential, limited to 100 rounds/items, and cannot be nested. Updates use public stable GitHub Releases and require a clean Git checkout with a matching origin.
