PDFView 0.2.0
PDFView 0.2.0 turns the first build into a full native PDF reader with offline visual signing.
Download PDFView-0.2.0-universal.zip, unzip it, and move PDFView.app to Applications. It runs on Apple silicon and Intel Macs with macOS 14.2 or later.
What's new
Reading
- Sidebar with thumbnails and the document outline
- Page indicator and Go to Page
- Find with match count
- Single, two-page and book layouts
- Full screen
- Remembers your place in each file
- Unlocks password-protected PDFs
Signing
- Draw, type or import a signature, plus initials and a date stamp.
- Place them into the PDF's signature fields or anywhere on the page.
- You can then move, resize or remove them, and undo each step.
- Place Initials on Every Page.
- Every signing action has a keyboard shortcut, and placed stamps work with VoiceOver.
Signed copies
- Typed form values and stamps are flattened into the page.
- Page sizes, rotation, links, bookmarks and document metadata are preserved.
- The save is atomic, and you can cancel it.
- Password-protected PDFs keep their password by default.
- The original file is never replaced.
Safety
- Unsaved signatures and form entries are never closed or quit away silently.
Gatekeeper
The app is ad-hoc signed, not notarized, so macOS blocks the first launch:
- macOS 14: right-click PDFView.app, choose Open, then confirm Open.
- macOS 15 or later: try to open it once, then go to System Settings > Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway for PDFView and confirm.
Limits
- Signatures are visual stamps, not certificate-based digital signatures.
- Password-protected PDFs whose pages don't start at the origin can't be saved as a protected signed copy yet. The app explains the workaround.
Everything stays on your Mac: no network access, no telemetry. See CHANGELOG.md for the full list.
