This patch release improves first-time installation and onboarding.

  • Allow up to 30 seconds for a new user service to become healthy, including service-state probes, so slower startup can complete in one installer run.
  • Report safe, actionable service-command, authentication, identity and health diagnostics when initialization cannot finish. Saved requests remain retryable and preserve credentials and edited starter files.
  • Discover OpenCode in its standard standalone installation directory even when it was installed after Backbone started. Existing PATH precedence and the OpenCode 2.1.4 minimum remain in effect.
  • Compare canonical data-directory paths when confirming service identity.

The setup schema and JSONL result codes are unchanged. Existing installations keep their configuration and service choices.

Install or upgrade with uv tool install --upgrade agent-backbone. If an installer has an unfinished setup request, resume it with its saved provider version before upgrading.
