Codex MCP and skill presence probes no longer accept another host's installation as proof; skill-pack indicators require readable SKILL.md files rather than empty directories.
GSD Codex installation checks accept both current shared and legacy Codex skill layouts.
setup returns exit 1 when base components failed, after completing workflow installation and recovery work.
Codex update/rollback messages and missing-search-key hints name the active host and its usable configuration surface.
Codex planning-with-files and UI/UX capabilities use their declared user-skill installation paths and native skill invocation; planning instructions no longer recurse through the harnessed plan master. Claude renderings stay unchanged.
Existing npm, git, and npx-skill installations run verification before recording success; a plugin registration cannot substitute for a required CLI executable.
Setup preserves approved L4 rescue and force-update outcomes instead of discarding later failures. Explicit setup --system authorization is propagated to base installers; the default still does not authorize global installs.
Codex gstack setup preserves existing source checkouts, bridges missing runtime dependencies only after confirmation, and checks browser launch from the installed runtime rather than the source tree.
GSD and Codex planning/UI helpers validate their required resources, interpreters, and data instead of accepting a lone skill file. Doctor output distinguishes partial content, registration, enablement, and unverified runtime/authentication evidence.
Codex gstack readiness checks the upstream lease protocol in an isolated, bounded scratch directory. A lock-primitive failure is reported as an upstream blocker, not as a usable installation or assumed live-lock contention; no native symlink policy or user lease is changed.
Verification subprocesses receive an exact runtime environment allowlist instead of unrelated provider credentials or startup hooks. Installation subprocesses keep their existing environment, and explicit empty CODEX_HOME follows the upstream default-home semantics.
Lease readiness tests compare canonical paths on macOS and Windows runners, including /var aliases and Windows short-path names.
Added
scripts/codex-live/installed-acceptance.mjs verifies an installed binary against fresh Codex turns, checkpoint promise guards, and document-hook decisions in scratch repositories.
A separate L4 playwright-cli manifest installs the pinned CLI and Chromium and verifies rendering in a uniquely named browser session. The legacy playwright-test manifest remains skill-only; project test dependencies are not installed globally or written into user projects.
A separate L2 webapp-testing manifest installs the Anthropic skill and verifies its server helper. Its capability no longer points at a nonexistent gstack-bundled skill; Python Playwright remains a project dependency.
Known Issues
The upstream gstack lease implementation cannot create its dangling-symlink lock token in the tested Windows Git Bash environment. Setup now reports this blocker and exits 1 instead of claiming complete readiness. Browser launch may pass while lease readiness remains blocked; this release does not change native symlink policy or bypass locking.
Exa authentication and Codex MCP approval remain user/environment prerequisites. MCP registration alone is not proof that an authenticated tool call will succeed.
