Brow 0.4.0
Grove is now part of Brow, and the notch gets a pet.
What's new
- Workspaces, in the menu bar, is what Grove was: one folder of git worktrees per feature across several repositories, the Claude Code sessions in them, Resume as… and Migrate to… between accounts, the commit graph and the code statistics. It stays off until you use it. If you used Grove, it turns on by itself with your projects, accounts and settings.
- Glim, a pet that eats your limits. It lives beside the 5-hour readout. When the number goes up, it takes a bite; its light is its hunger meter. It falls asleep when the 5-hour limit is used up, hides in its den when the weekly limit is, and hops into the panel when you hover the notch. Settings → General → Show the pet turns it off.
- Every account picker in Workspaces shows that account's 5-hour and weekly use, so a session goes to the account that still has room.
- One Settings window with four tabs: General, Accounts, Workspaces, About.
- The command-line tool is
brow, andgrovestill works as a second name. It is inbrow-cli.zipandbrew install efim0v/tap/brow-cli. - Settings → General → Show Brow in the notch can be turned off if you only want Workspaces.
- A new icon in cream, the colour of Glim.
Coming from Grove
- Quit Grove.app before you start Brow. While Grove runs, Workspaces waits and offers Quit Grove.
- Before the first launch, decide about old transcripts. Grove's safety net kept copies of Claude Code transcripts for 90 days and put back the ones Claude Code deleted. Brow follows Claude Code's own retention (
cleanupPeriodDays, 30 days unless you set it) and drops older copies. To keep older sessions, raisecleanupPeriodDaysin each account'ssettings.jsonbefore you switch, or back up~/.claude/grovefirst. - If you installed Grove's tool with Homebrew,
brew upgrademovesgrove-clitobrow-cli. - Everything else that changes.
Fixed
- The transcript safety net no longer brings back transcripts Claude Code's retention deleted (efim0v/grove#6).
- Opening Accounts no longer shows an "unknown session store" banner for Claude Code's own folders (efim0v/grove#7).
- Launch no longer re-creates an account folder you deleted (efim0v/grove#12).
- Reading a token with the
securitytool gives up after ten seconds (efim0v/grove#9). - The model pickers offer Claude Code's aliases and any model id (efim0v/grove#10).
- One unreadable value in
config.jsonno longer resets all settings (#7). - The launch-at-login toggle no longer shows on while it is off (#8).
The full list is in the changelog.
Update
- Homebrew:
brew upgrade --cask brow. - Or download
Brow.zipbelow, quit Brow and replace/Applications/Brow.app. The build is signed ad hoc and not notarized, so macOS blocks the first launch: open System Settings → Privacy & Security and press Open Anyway, or runxattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Brow.app. - A new ad hoc build can lose access to Claude Code's Keychain items. An account in that state shows a key; press it and choose Always Allow.
Requires macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon and Claude Code.
