v0.3.0 — Remove selected apps and recognition models
- Remove selected apps and recognition resources. Adds native removal of six optional packages: the AI interpreter, three recognition/model managers, Samsung Analytics, and the main context-aware service. On the tested Frame Pro, this removed about 74 MiB of recognition resources along with the selected apps.
- Block more background activity. Adds controls for AI interpretation, context collection, Wi-Fi motion/user-presence sensing, and automatic app delivery. Twelve additional service/startup entries and three app update/sync helpers were blocked on the tested TV.
- Back up before uninstalling. Copies installed files, app data and recovery records to a private backup on your computer and verifies the copy before removal. Interrupted transfers can be retried.
- Check whether removed packages return. The optional boot hook now checks package removal alongside the existing service protections. It reports failure if a selected package returns or removal is incomplete.
- Handle stubborn service shutdowns. Gives the context collector time to stop normally, then terminates only its remaining service processes if needed.
Verified: All 85 host tests passed. Live checks rejected activation of all 12 new service/startup entries and launch of all seven app IDs in the six removed packages. The owner confirmed Apple TV picture, soundbar volume, input selection and manual Art Mode still work.
Compatibility and limits: Tested on Frame Pro QN65LS03FWFXZA, firmware 1301.0. Automatic presence-based Art wake/dimming and the removed AI features may be lost. Package backups are not guaranteed reinstallable packages; there is no automatic package restore. Fresh reboot persistence and network wake remain unverified for this configuration. Privileged firmware can undo these controls; they do not establish complete microphone or telemetry isolation.
v0.2.0 — Additional background-service controls
Additional background-service controls
- Disable more visual-analysis features: New controls stop the screen-analysis and content-cognition managers used for food/text discovery and subtitle recognition. Disabling these affects related AI and accessibility features.
- Block Gaming Hub’s background components: Disable two additional backend apps and their startup service, extending the existing Gaming Hub controls.
- Turn off unused remote-support services: Block Samsung Remote Management, Easy Support and Shop Care while preserving the separate maintenance tools.
- Disable Remote PC: Block the Remote PC launcher and background manager while retaining its sandbox and the shared browser.
- Add an optional Alexa startup-helper block: Covers a separate helper when it is installed. It was absent from the tested TV, so this control was skipped there.
- Check that services actually stopped: Detect selected helper processes that remain running after their main service stops, and undo the attempted change if verification fails.
- Expand service inspection: Add a live service audit and broader inspection of both TV and One Connect firmware to identify components needing further investigation.
Compatibility and limits: Support is currently limited to the Frame Pro QN65LS03FWFXZA running firmware 1301.0. Apps are disabled rather than uninstalled, and AI model files remain installed. These controls do not establish that every microphone input, advertising component or telemetry source is blocked.
v0.1.0 — Privacy controls for your Frame TV
Privacy controls for your Frame TV
- Disable unwanted voice assistants: Block selected Bixby, Alexa, speech-recognition and wake-word components, including background services used for hands-free listening.
- Turn off microphone-based sound sensing: Disable the ambient-sound feature used for sound detection and automatic Art Mode presence sensing. Manual Art Mode remains available.
- Reduce advertising and usage reporting: Block selected advertising, analytics and diagnostic-reporting services.
- Disable apps and integrations you don’t use: Optional controls cover TV Plus, Gaming Hub, Samsung Health, selected SmartThings integrations and SmartThings Find.
- Stop selected screen-recognition services: Disable components that identify games and apps from what appears on screen.
- Control trusted certificate issuers: Optionally remove four eMudhra/emSign certificates from selected TV trust stores. Apps with their own certificate stores are unaffected.
- Choose when to update firmware: Turn off automatic firmware updates while keeping manual updates available.
- Keep changes reversible: Save original settings for restoration, with optional automatic reapplication after restarting the TV. Improved checks also catch selected apps running through Samsung’s shared app launchers.
