Use Visual Studio's built-in Workflow Designer and standard Toolbox with modern .NET/CoreWF projects.
- Select the Visual Studio installation to patch, including Visual Studio 2022.
- Add Sequence, Flowchart, and State Machine CoreWF workflow items.
- Show CoreWF items in modern .NET/.NET Standard projects and original workflow templates in .NET Framework projects, including SDK-style Framework projects.
- Clear the legacy XAML custom tool on new CoreWF items and retain build action None.
- Discover custom activities after builds and use them from the standard Toolbox.
- Install, repair, or uninstall using verified local backups and rollback.
Download CoreWF-WorkflowDesigner-Setup.exe, save your work, and close Visual Studio before installing. Choose your Visual Studio instance, authorize local patching, and select Install / Repair. The executable is unsigned. SHA256SUMS.txt contains download checksums; Mono.Cecil.LICENSE.txt contains the bundled dependency's upstream notice.
No original or modified Microsoft DLLs are distributed. The installer generates changes from the user's installed components after consent. Compatibility is checked against component structure rather than an exact Visual Studio update number.
Validation: install, repair, uninstall, rollback, recovery, template capabilities, native designer loading, WPF hosting, and patched callback checks pass with Visual Studio 2022 (17.13.35931.197) and Visual Studio 2026 (18.9.12128.139) components. Actual Visual Studio 2022 template filtering was checked in .NET 9, .NET Standard 2.1, classic .NET Framework 4.7.2, and SDK-style .NET Framework 4.8 projects. The four-project solution builds successfully.
Known limitation: graphical XAML breakpoint binding for CoreWF remains unresolved. Read the README for activity metadata limitations, recovery instructions, and build steps.
